Offtopic: Couldn't help but laugh...

So, I’ve taken to using RadioMobile more and more with areas I’m unfamiliar with when a survey is requested to see if we can provide service to a client…

I just got finished running a Radio Link test to see if this customer had possibility as I wasn’t sure of their terrain/area.

Here’s what I found:

I couldn’t help but laugh after I saw this…

The antenna on the left is a 100’ Rohn tower with a 60deg. sector 900MHz.

On the right, in the ‘hole’ you’ll see the customer. I tested the link against a 13dBi Yagi just for S&G…

Anyone else use RadioMobile here? Have you found it accurate? I have found it as accurate as I make it; meaning the more precise the information, the more precise the results.

Im an installer (contract) for a company in Western Australia - They use Radio Mobile
I do use it to the extent to see if the prospective customer is line of sight, but dont know how to set it up for the details. Any help would be appreciated to set up the net etc, we use both 5.7 and 900 units.

Regards

Paul

nepalken one of the forum member and our RF guy has good experience using radio mobile and long distance wireless , he can suggest you more.

We use radio mobile extensively for our long distance wireless connectivity. We have terrain which Mountains,Hills and Plains to we mostly depends on radio mobile and google earth for initial planning.

However until now we have tested 5-6 long distance wireless connectivity and all are successful. This includes the longest connectivity of 87.43 miles using 10BH . But in one case we has to shift the tower location due to marginal difference in elevation, Not so  like in your snapshot.

I have found it as accurate as I make it; meaning the more precise the information, the more precise the results.

Yes true.

I use the motorola link estimator, its an excel spreadsheet, allows you to play with size of antenna’s to see the quality of the link and bandwidth (calibrated for the orthogon kit) however it will show you terrain similar to what you have posted…

generates a googlearth file too…

I use Global Mapper. I have digital elevation model map of my country with 20 m accuracy, and works great. It can do exports in google earth…
