I got it running. I am a little confused on how to add a device. Do I have to configure anything in the canopy gear

Have you imported the templates and perl scripts that are on the Cacti site yet?
No I have not downloaded the scripts and templates. I just want to see the bandwidth that each device is using. I thought I only needed these scrips and templates if I wanted to graph the jitter dBm etc.
Do I need the scrips to monitor bandwidth?
