Can someone please provide me with a sample deployment scenario for replacing PMP320 ABAB with the PMP450 3.65GHz?
As of right now, the recommendation is to completely replace (i.e. forklift) the PMP 320 with the PMP 450. Currently, the two products have differing frame structures (PMP 320 was based on the 802.16e WiMAX protocol, and PMP 450 is proprietary). The PMP 320 is a 5ms frame, and the PMP 450 is 2.5 ms, so synchronization is not possible at this time.
In a future software release (for PMP 450), we’ll introduce the option to operate in 5ms frames, which will allow synchronization with PMP 320, and thereby allowing a more graceful migration strategy. As we get closer to the release of this software, we’ll be posting more information on this topic.
Thank you Matt, what would be your recommendations or concerns in installing a new site with the 450 nearby an existing 320 site?
Has there been any update on this topic? This is the only posting I have found on sync between 320 and 450. It would also be nice if the FCC would finally open more 3GHz spectrum.
I am also very interested in the information. We have currently deployed 4 x 450 sites and have over 20 sites with 320 on them. We are looking at Telrads solution as an upgrade path for the 320 system but I am not overly optimitic about moving forward with an LTE based network.
We are working very hard on System Release 13.3, which will provide the proper frame timing (5ms frames) in order to better co-locate PMP 320 with PMP 450.
This will allow overlay deployments, and enable more graceful migration while synchronized to minimize interference. We expect to have Beta software available for PMP 450 within a couple of weeks.
On a side note, we think it would be fantastic if the FCC would open up an additional 100 MHz in the 3.65 spectrum as well, and we've designed the PMP 450 hardware to be able to support this as soon as they do!
