pmp450 sm reboot on link test

Hi,

I have a pmp450 SM registered to a 450m AP.

AP software version is 16.0.0.1, SM version is (now, before 16.0.0.1 too) 16.0.1

As i run a Extrapolated Link Test with this SM, the SM reboot immediately and after few minutes is online again.

The event log of SM reported:

******System Startup******

System Reset Exception -- Power-On Reset

what can be the problem?

Please update AP and SM to 16.1 and try again.

Yes, 16.1 would be great to let us know if this is still happening. Unless you have PMP 430s on your network then I recommend 16.0.1.1.

Hi, I have upgraded SM to 16.1 (i can't upgrade AP too because we have some offline SM with 15.1.5 and they will not register to 16.1).

SM still reboots when I do a link test.

Correct, 16.1 AP will not register with 15.1.5 or earlier SM.

Would you try to update the sector to 16.0.1.1? This will support SMs even when they come back online from 15.1.5.

Sorry for the delay, we have solved.

It was a power supply problem, it seemed that the power supply could not support the power load when the SM was doing the link test

I echo Charlie's sentiment. Thank you for reporting the solution to your issue, as this might help future customers in troubleshooting similar issues.

Often, when the radio resets, the power supply is overlooked. This should rarely be the problem when using the Cambium Networks recommended power supply, but is something that could be investigated.

This was my issue aswell, AP would reboot during link test, switched to a higher wattage power supply. Works great now, thanks for this solution.
