Will the 450b in ptp mode support gps sync and if so how?
@hci wrote:Will the 450b in ptp mode support gps sync and if so how?
hci,
Yes, the PTP 450b supports GPS sync with Canopy Sync over power port. Note this is not Cambium Sync, as the 450b operates on Canopy standard 29 V.
Also, the 450b supports sync input into the 3.5 mm jack with a special cable. This of course will also require a new cover on the 450b High Gain, which we are currently designing.
That worked great for enabling and disabling LTE frame matching. Since the downlink percent and max range must also be tweaked to match frames with LTE can that be done with snmp?
Hi, the following MIB setting are probably the ones that you need to use:
radioDownlinkPercent OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX INTEGER (1..99)
UNITS "%"
MAX-ACCESS read-write
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"This is the percentage of frame data space allocated for downlink. Various radio platforms and regions will have different allowable downlink percentages."
::={whispApsRFConfigRadioEntry 2}
radioMaxRange OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX INTEGER
MAX-ACCESS read-write
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"Access point max range. This can be in miles or KM based upon the radioMaxRangeUnit setting so set radioMaxRangeUnit first and then radioMaxRange. RadioMaxRangeUnit alone should not be changed so please make sure that radioMaxRange value is also set after setting the unit."
::={whispApsRFConfigRadioEntry 3}
Best regards
Couple things with v16.
I do vlan taging in the SM. This feature is broken in 16. Any word on the fix other than revert back to 15.2.1? (Cambium Networks ticket 171092)
Release notes for v16 indicates the 450b units can be configured in the GUI to be a BH.
GUI configuration for SM/Backhaul
The configuration of PTP keyed 450b/450i devices (i.e. the new 450b models & PTP 450i) can be
changed to BHM/BHS and vice versa through the GUI.
The new 5 GHz 450b models are supplied defaulted to subscriber mode.
Where is this new GUI to accomplish this task?
I don't have an update on the VLAN issue yet, sorry.
Regarding the PTP operation, this requires that you have a radio that was sold as a PTP radio. An existing deployed 450b SM cannot be converted to operate as a BH. If you purchased a 450b SM, it will remain an SM and nothing will change (with respect to this) by updating to R16.0.
In order to utilize this ability, you need to purchase the PTP 450b model numbers. They come from the factory configured as SM, but can easily be changed (via GUI or SNMP) to operate as a BH. They are the same price as the SM, so there's really no reason to continue purchasing the SM-only model number. See your reseller for the new part numbers to purchase.
Hi Myke,
The JIRA (bug tracking number) associated with your ticket for the VLAN problem is marked as resolved against the next 16.0.0.1 beta release (will have a number >=2). So that should be good for you.
best regards,
Andy.
Beta System Software 16.0.0.1 (Beta-2) / 14-Dec-18 - does not fix the vlan issue.

Hi Myke,
What software version are you running on SM ?
For this fix to work SM also need to be on 16.0.0.1 (Beta-2).
Thanks,
Chitrang

Will a PTP450i talk to a PTP450b?

Hi hci,
I think so, I'll check to make sure - Charlie or Al should know.
Andy.

Charlie says it should be fine, with the caveat that Max Tx Powers are different so the link may not be symmetrical.
Andy.

Correct. It will also talk to the PTP 450. As always, it is recommended to be on the software version, although there has not been any PTP incompatibilities for awhile.
Thanks Charlie :)

Thanks for the post or thanks for you keeping them compatible? You're welcome for both. :P

When will the high gain PTP450b units ship?
It is shipping and available now.
