Prefered Band?

For CM’s do you guys mainly use 900, 5ghz or 2.4?

I know it depends on where you are.

Do you find the 5ghz hard to get a link because of short distance and needing LOS?

5. Ghz is definately LOS based, so dont even try it if you dont have LOS.

2.4 goes through light trees pretty well

We added Canopy 900 MHz to our network after running 2.4 and 5.8 from other vendors for a number of years. We use it to reach NLOS and distant customers with great success.

What Paul said

In a pure LOS environment, 2.4 and 5.x are the way to go. You can easily get 100+ Subs per AP with excellent speeds and low latency.

In an environment with variable LOS a mixed network would be the best choice. Put LOS users on the 2.4 or 5.x and N-LOS users on 900

In a high foliage N-LOS environment, 900 is the only thing that works and it’s not a miracle worker.

Unfortunately here in Europe 5.4 is the only chance :frowning:
2.4 is limited to 100mW EIRP and 900 is only available for public telephony (GSM).
