PTP250 02-01 Release

Dear PTP-User

We are pleased to announce the release of our latest hardware and software for the PTP 250 Series of radios.

Motorola PTP 250 radios are designed for Ethernet bridging over point-to-point microwave links in the unlicensed bands 5.4 GHz (ETSI Band B) and 5.8 GHz (ETSI Band C and FCC ISM band). The PTP 250 is a wireless Ethernet bridge offering user data rates of up to 256 Mbps aggregate user data rate.

We now have 5.4GHz and 5.8GHz approval from the FCC for dual band operation in the US.
Products now shipping with the following Cambium part numbers are programmed for dual band operation.

C054025B007A PTP 250 – Integrated - (FCC 5.4 / 5.8) – LINK
C054025B008A PTP 250 – Integrated - (FCC 5.4 / 5.8) – END
C054025B003A PTP 250 – Connectorised - (FCC 5.4 / 5.8) – LINK
C054025B004A PTP 250 – Connectorised - (FCC 5.4 / 5.8) – END

For US customers wishing to upgrade their existing units to dual band operation please see the attached upgrade process.

The PTP250 Release 02-01 contains the following new features.
Zero residual packet loss for 64-byte frames using MCS-15 modulation mode above 80Mbps, under ideal channel conditions.
This residual packet loss is an inherent problem in competing 802.11n radio products, and so PTP 250 has a significant performance advantage with Release 02-01 software.

The PTP250 Release 02-01 contains the following bug fix:
In Release 02-00, on the GUI Status Page, the field “LAN status” erroneously reported “LAN down” after 25 days of operation. This is now fixed in Release 02-01.
Various minor improvements to the GUI web interface

Full details are in the release notes and user manual.
