Radius Server

Hi all,
We are using Bam at present.
I am wondering what exactly can a Radius Server provide.
Ie: if I setup pppoe in the SM and tell it to authenticate to a Radius Server,
I take it that this will authenticate the SM, how do we then handle a rouge SM that has PPPoe turned off ?
Is a Radius server able to set the Upload and Download speeds in the SM, or would this have to be done manually in each SM ?

What other things can the Radius Server provide ?

Also I have looked at turning on the PPPoe in the SM and it says that It cannot be turned on at present as the message says “Current Registered AP Does Not Support PPPoE
You must enable NAT”.
This doesn’t make any sense to me, why would I want to use Nat in the AP ?

NAT must be enabled on SM, not on the AP (it doesn't make sense).
Which AP & SM versions are you using?

The new RADIUS server function will provide you with MAC address-based authentication. One way to run your network is make use of the security keys and MAC auth instead of using Prizm/BAM.
