Reading REG and RE-REG counts on APs

I have had issues with a few customers, and found after much research that each of them had a really high (>100) reg/re-reg count on the AP in question. In researching this, I found earlier questions about how to read the reg/re-reg counts and so I started digging and found them. There is a short shell script (Linux/Unix) at ftp://ftp.ecsis.net/pub/canopy/canopyreginfo.sh that will list the AP, each associated SM by name, and their REG and RE-REG counts. Not real fancy (see below) but gives me the ability to quickly “see” where problems are without having to login to each AP and scan the tables…

Example:

canopyreginfo.sh 10.1.1.4
SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: OUR-AP-5B
UNITS (BY NAME)
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.161.19.3.1.4.1.33.2 = STRING: "Krispy Kritters"
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.161.19.3.1.4.1.33.3 = STRING: "BeSomebody"
UNITS (BY REGISTRATIONS)
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.161.19.3.1.4.1.25.2 = INTEGER: 151
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.161.19.3.1.4.1.25.3 = INTEGER: 781
UNITS (BY RE-REGISTRATIONS)
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.161.19.3.1.4.1.26.2 = INTEGER: 51
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.161.19.3.1.4.1.26.3 = INTEGER: 161
end example

Hope it helps someone else…
