We have been using the R195w for residential. It has/had all of the features, bridge mode, QOS, on premise maestro. This unit is now discontinued and no longer available. When asked about a replacement cnpilot home, RV22 was the answer, which does NOT have any of these needed features.
With out some major updates this is not happening, there seems to be very little going on with this product, which is too bad as it works quite well on an RF standpoint.
We are also sourcing another alternative as time has run out, we are out of stock…
Good day all.
Port forwarding will be implemented by august time frame as the new version is made available both on cnMaestro and for the APs, it will also allow the inclusion of a new SSID intended for IoT and it will also allow ping from the wan side. I will update on the Bridge mode and how it can be implemented.
Thank you for that update, this is great news. Looking forward to the next release.
Glad to see continued development and progress on the RV22 product. These can be excellent, esp over the other consumer TPLink or similar products [as reviewed by Gary…]
Good day everyone.
Let me share an update on the bridge mode. Our team is working in bringing this functionality in a later release expected this year.
We found another bug, probably is what makes the device act as mesh, but if a customer plugs in a dhcp server on the LAN then the base unit turns into a client or something, either way it disconnects the wan and bridges the clint side devices upstream. yuck
we ended up bringing in a demo of tplink aginet. I hate to run 2 platforms but rv22 seems dead and no roadmap on any other resi wifi in the cambium camp.
I apologize for the delayed response and thank you for your patience.
By default, every RV22 unit operates with its internal DHCP server enabled.
In wired or wireless mesh deployments, the Mesh Base RV22 automatically manages IP address allocation for all downstream mesh nodes and connected clients. This ensures a consistent IP addressing scheme and simplifies overall network management.
To proceed further with your request, we would appreciate clarification on the need to connect an external DHCP server to the LAN port of the RV22. This is important because:
The built-in DHCP server already provides IP address allocation for both wired and wireless clients within the mesh network.
Introducing an external DHCP server may cause conflicts with the existing internal DHCP service.
Can you kindly announce other upcoming feature enhancements to the RV22 product? We are ordering some.
Feature request:
RV 22 operate in AP only mode. Can we deploy as mesh access-points, and use a different router. Or they stuck as bridge/router mode?
If Cambium can allow AP only mode – this would be very helpful. As we could install behind a different router [either NSE or other vendor] and allow to create a nice wireless mesh network for smaller SMB or residential customers.
