SFP cnMatrix

Hi All,

need help for cnMatrix SFP,
1. Can SFP use other products for cnMatrix?
2. if the cambium has SFP products for cnMatrix? if you have, please provide the type and datasheet.

Thanks,

Gema

Gema,

cnMatrix switches allow interoperability with all standard SFP/SFP+ transceivers…… both OEM and company branded.

That is:

  • OEM:  Finisar, JDSU, Avago, etc.
  • Company Branded:  Cisco, Juniper, Avaya, etc.

Note that the difference is that Company Branded/Labeled transceivers take a standard OEM part and have it coded with additional information internally that can be read by a system (Company P/N, CLEI, etc).

There are switch companies that require branded transceivers to be used in their system…. Where they read the company field data, and allow/disallow operation based on those fields.

cnMatrix does not disallow!

The main reason for this it allows a customer to be able to use any transceiver they may already have on hand.

In our labs for SFPs (1G), for example, we have used:

  • Agilent HFBR-5710LP
  • Finisar FTLF8519P2BNL
  • Avago AFBR-5715PZ

For SFP+ (10G):

  • JDSU PLRXPL-SC-S43-AY
  • Finisar FTLX8571D3BCL

Likewise, 1G copper SFP transceivers are used in our lab as well:

  • Finisar FCLF-8521-3-N2
  • Avago/Agilent QBCU-5794R

We have tested with many other transceivers in our labs, as well as by our trial partners.

Do note that we recommend transceivers from trusted and established manufacturers.

However, we do not go as far as making specific part recommendations to customers.

Currently, we do not offer "Cambium Networks" branded SFP/SFP+ transceivers.

However, that is in discussion at this time.......

Stay tuned.

Have you evr used the Ubiquiti UF-RJ45-1G U Fiber, RJ45 SFP Transceiver Module.

I cannot find finisair in europe(greece)

Also in finisair web site you may find only this one.

https://www.finisar.com/sites/default/files/downloads/finisar_fclf852xp2btl_1000base-t_rohs_compliant_copper_sfp_transceiver_product_specification_0.pdf

The one you reffered to seems obsolute.

While we are in the process of qualifying transceivers to be offered as part of the Cambium portfolio, we are testing with various 3rd party and "competitor" branded transceivers.

The Ubiquiti UF-RJ45-1G copper SFP is one that is in our lab and being tested now.

We will have results in the next couple weeks, and will give an update in this forum.

You are correct in that the Finisar copper SFP that was mentioned earlier in this forum is no longer available from Finisar.

However, their current FCLF8521P2BTL and FCLF8522P2BTL have been initially tested with cnMatrix with no issues.

Note that we did not test FCLF8520P2BTL, as this part does not enable 1000BASE-X auto-negotiation.

However, this does not mean that the part does not work in the system.
