SM Hangs on Reboot?

Today while I was collecting stats on our SMs, I changed a power setting on one from 28 dBm to 26 dBm and rebooted the unit. No other changes. Prior to the reboot the average power reading at the AP for that unit was -74 dBm.

I did this via the web interface. The unit did not register. Approximately 45 minutes later I rebooted the AP. When the AP came up the unit registered. The average power reading at the AP was -75 dBm.

At the time of reboot the SM had been returning one echo packet per second and had done that perfectly for twelve hours prior to the reboot of the SM. After the reboot of the AP the unit again returned one echo packet per second flawlessly.

Clearly the unit failed to register BUT was not hung in the firmware. This was a 900 MHz unit.

It struck me as such an odd behaviour that I should document it here.

There have been times when I have reboot a SM, OR performed a link test from the SM to the AP and it would not come back up. I also had to REboot the AP. Strange.

Yah, strange…

What should be the prob in that? I’ve experienced that also…

i have to reboot the AP to register the SM…

But atleast the unit regs…
