Software downloads are no longer free

If they ask for fees on softwares, I don’t think there is a reason that we log onto this forum.

Instead, we build our on Forum Module, since we, members are the one helping each other. I could not see any Technical Support Specialists, atleast Level 1 Specialist to reply or to clarify on some things around.

HAHA…I was think that my self. How much longer will the forum stay online before they start charging for access to it as well.

Moto is even making us as their Testing Labs, they upload unstable software, we test, and our clients suffer. After that, we submit our complain, and takes months before they acknowledge it. Do you think its fair?

They really got 2/10 in Tech Support. Most of us might have mastered the User Guide than them. Arggh!

I guess, the group who usually hang around must have a separate Forum, exclusive for Old Motorola users.

New users, means new buyers from Motorola must ask Moto every inch of their problem.

Perhaps moving the forum isn’t a bad idea.

Its a way of Protest.

Who knows, they would change their mind.

In fact, new users all over the globe who posted there problems in this forum are very much satisfied by the answers of:

Jerry Richardson
acherman
VJ
msmith
clueless
vince
frothingdog.ca
erkan
attitude0330
ahull
amd phreak
vanilla
kmeadows

Without the long wait for a ticket. In my country, I could be charged paying .20$/minute if I ask Tech Support based in US.

Do you agree those guys above are helping enough?

This all makes me laugh.

Just the other day I was going through some unresolved issues out there and came across a trouble ticket I started with Motorola on Oct. 3/07. They sent me a follow-up email on Nov. 13/07 asking if I resolved the issue myself, to which I replied (on the same day) that "no, I had not figured it out. If I could solve the issue myself I would not have taken the last-resort step of talking to you folks."

Sent them another message today - we’ll see how long it takes anyone to get back to me with no help at all.

Aaron

This is what I want to emphasize. Moto is now soooooooooo greedy!!!

Hey acherman, would you agree if Moto will hire you to reply their troubled tickets? Just kidding.

Sure, but if they treat their long standing customers this way (this company has been a Motorola dealer for over 30 years) I wonder how they treat their customers. haha

Aaron

They really caught clients in surprise.

I should have downloaded 8.2.2 v2 since it was available. Now I dont have a copy of it. Arghhh!

PM with your email info and I can send you a copy.

Aaron

Wow! This is the most popular topic ever on canopywireless.com.

I’m interested to find out the skinny on this as well.

We are a dealer, and I can say on the other side of the house things are done differently.

The Canopy group is from what I can tell, separate from Mother Motorola.

Traditionally though, Motorola is pretty black and white on things. They usually do not leave people in the dust when moving things around or upgrading. Legacy support has always been there as well.

Thats my .02 cents worth. I don’t want to get into a slam-moto thing, seeing as who I work for. I can say that if you stabbed me and I started bleeding, it’d probably bleed out little blue and white batwings… :stuck_out_tongue:

There are some very serious issues that we are facing with moto. These issues need to be organized and presented in an appropriate method. I wouldnt mind heading this effort but I would need a list of supporters.

I would recommend we organize a meeting of some sort with the WISPs that are experiencing problems that need resolutions. Whether its a series of emails, a new forum, a chat app or a phone conference we should identify the problems and request results.

Together we have some financial leverage, if they refuse to work with us we can take our business elsewhere resulting in millions of dollars lost.

This forum is not an appropriate place to vent and discourage new customers. I know some of my customers read this forum, and im sure many do thier research before investing in my wireless service.

If you would like to work with me on this project please email me, vince at vcweb dot org or call (760)749-0828.

The IRC chat channel is still around on Espernet. Doesn’t see too much traffic these days, but it is there.

irc.esper.net #canopy

Discuss there if you wish, or somebody can start a forum.

Yeah nice one. We will organize ourselves. Count me in. Either small local WISPs or bigger one. =)

Hello to all !
I have carefully readed all posts in this topic and I have concluded that Moto didnt change anything during last 10 years.

This story is well known for me.
Moto support has never been better than this.

Im Motorola two way radio dealer since 1995.
We never get good support from motorola and we continue selling all this years the Moto radios.

Motorola is doing experiments with our money and nerves and we cant change anything except groupig us in strong comunity and help each other with our experiance.

I dont have much time to maintain a forum but if somebody would like to be forum administrator I will give him a chance.
The forum is allready installed on this domain www.canopy-net.com/forum

Everything is ready to start a new forum comunity.

Thanks to motorola we are making some money.

Happy new year to all canopy guys !

Well I have forum on my site. It’s there if people wish to use it. I just don’t have alot of time to moderate it. So if people would like to use it, I could use 2-4 moderators to help keep things clean and structured.

However I’m sure there are other forums already out there on the net that are very informative and could be used for a Canopy group as well.

In the end it’s up to the community.

dslreports.com has a good WISP forum with lots of moto input from ISPs, I bet contacting the mods there would get a motorola forum up. But in defense of this place, occasionaly moto support posts replies to the questions and that would be gone.

OK, I just entered the MAC of an in-warranty radio. I was given access to

8.2.2 AES, DES
8.2.1 AES, DES
8.1.5.1 AES, DES
7.3.6 AES, DES
2.2 CMMmicro

So my understanding is correct. Keep buying radios, and Moto will keep supplying up-to-date software. Go to another vendor, and your warranty expires along with free access to software.

Seems fair to me.
