Step-by-step tutorial for installing PRIZM 2.0

HI,

I tried to install the new software PRIZM2.0 and I failed. Where can I find a step-by-step-tutorial that guides me through the installation process.

Things that I´ve done:
1. Install Prizm2.0
2. Install the License Manager

When I start the Management Console, I´ve got Server Information in red: Server is down. WHAT SERVER??? I become desperate!

Thankx for your help!

Daniel

Is this a new install? Is this a upgrade or trial?

It is a new install. No update or anything!! It is the first time, that I work with Prizm2.0. But the user manual delivers no step-by-step guide for installation.

I am guessing that this install is on linux? If so what version?

Hi,

make sure you have valid license server and license element. Try to stop all services, and start license manager first, and then start the database, apache tomcat and last start the prizm server.

Thank you cbotts for helping me. No, I try installing on WINXP.

Hi I am also doing a new install and am having problems. I have license manager installed and Prizm 2.0. In my email from Motorola they sent me my .lic file and install file of Prizm 2.0. I have installed on Enterprise Redhat.

In my email it says do not install the license file in the license manager’s license_files dir but in the Prizm 2.0. But if you look at the install_licenses.sh they send you in the shell script it says install in /usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/license_files

Well that is the license manager.

I edited the install shell script to install in the /usr/local/Canopy/Prizm/license_files dir.

It did install. But now what? How do I run Prizm? I am just testing it so is the license manager required? Do I need a .lic file for that also?

Thanks for any replies

You need copy all license file into licenses_files in FLEXnet directory and restart license manager service.
Make sure in /usr/local/Canopy/Prizm/config/licensing.xml, your licensing path is pointing to /usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/license_files

after the licensing progress is done, and then install prizm itself and try configure the database

Ok I have done that, I only have one license file that they sent me supposedly good for all. I installed it in /usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/licenses_files and Prizm is pointed there.

Howerver I open Prizm in my browser and it says Server Down.

ps -ef | grep lmgrd
nobody 2111 1 0 Jun16 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/lmgrd -c /usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/license_files
nobody 2115 2111 0 Jun16 ? 00:00:00 motocnpy -T canopy 10.0 3 -c /usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/license_files --lmgrd_start 4492b115

When I tried running ./lmgrd I get

license manager: can’t initialize: Cannot find license file.
The license files (or server network addresses) attempted are
listed below. Use LM_LICENSE_FILE to use a different license file,
or contact your software provider for a license file.
Filename: /usr/local/flexlm/licenses/license.dat
License path: /usr/local/flexlm/licenses/license.dat
FLEXnet Licensing error:-1,359. System Error: 2 "No such file or directory"
For further information, refer to the FLEXnet Licensing End User Guide,
available at “www.macrovision.com”.
11:42:39 (lmgrd) Using license file "/usr/local/flexlm/licenses/license.dat"

Also WHen I try running Prizm Management System from my browser it asks me to login, I enter my username/pass, and click login and get the following error:

An unknow error occured while connecting to the PrizmEMS Server
java.rmi.NOTBOUNDException:CanopyPrizm

Hi,

can you post result of

/usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/lmutil lmstat –a –c portnumber@hostname

regards,
mrdlnf

Ok I ran that and this is all I get.

/usr/local/Canopy/FLEXnet/lmutil lmstat –a –c 12800@canopy
lmutil - Copyright © 1989-2004 by Macrovision Corporation. All rights reserved.
usage: lmstat

Could this be a problem with my license file? I found this in the Prizm/logs dir.

Well guys I ended up contacting Motorola. Looks like it was an issue with my license file. Sort of with my NIC also. Turns out according to them Prizm searches for eth0 in linux and I was using eth1. I can’ t change the MAC address of my NIC and can’t edit the license so I have re ordered another trial license. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.

Thanks for the responses.

If someone have ideas
please reply
i don’t think that is a license file problem.
It doesn’t start "exported class com.mot.canopy.prizm.core.license at port:12802"

THks

Hi all
i wanna reply to my last post.
It was a license file error.
I’ve submitted request with a right MAC but someone have exchanged a 0 with a o in the MAC address…
so strange…

Bye
