Syncing two APs without a CMM

I have a site with only two 5750APs and no CMM. I’m trying to connect the two to each other with a straight through sync cable and have one generate sync and the other recieve sync. When I tried it (with one unit powered off), the unit came up as if a default plug were installed, i.e., as if pins 4 & 6 were shorted together. I’ve tested the cable and it’s good.

Do any of the pairs need to be reversed?

only connect pins 1, 2, 3, 6

We have only just connected pins 1 and 6 (at least since Firmware 4.x forced us to not do them all)
