Testing units on bench

How do people generally test units or do initial config?

Are we safe enough to configure / test on workbench as long as no link is established?

What is the minimum link distance?

Hi,

It is not safe to be constantly exposed to radiation at close distances. That said, we have recommendations on minimum safe distances from the antenna specific to each product. For the PMP 450, please refer to the "PMP 450 Planning Guide 13.4" (Page 4-14) for these recommendations. The Planning Guide is available at https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/pmp450/. Again, these recommendations are specific to each product and varies between products. Hence please refer to the corresponding sections in the User Guide or Planning Guide for the correct recommendations.

Thanks,

Sriram

Also, not having a link does not mean there is no transmission. The Access Point transmits even when there is no link. To ensure the radio is not transmitting, power it off or set the Frequency Carrier to "None".

Thanks,

Sriram

If we're just playing around with an AP on the bench we'll either have dummy loads connected to both of the RF ports OR if we're doing a transfer test, we'll sometimes have a sector connected to it. We'll turn down the power really low as well. I talk a little bit about this in another post.
