Upgrading E2E Controller On-Premises 1.0.1-beta Versions (b1/b2/b3) to 1.0.1 Version

This article explains how to update External E2E Controller On-Premises running with 1.0.1-b1/1.0.1-b2/1.0.1-b3 to 1.0.1-r1 OVA and package

Download the latest E2E controller Software Package and OVA from the support site

There are two options to upgrade latest E2E Controller On-Premises

Option 1: Installing New 1.0.1-r1 E2E Controller On-Premises OVA

Option 2: Applying package on top of 1.0.1-b1/1.0.1-b2/1.0.1-b3 with 1.0.1-r1 package (.tar.gz)

Option 1: Installing New E2E On-Premises OVA

  • Login to cnMaestro version 3.0.0-r19 and navigate to E2E Network > Tools > Operations > System Backup and Restore. Under Backup, click on Download button, backup configuration of External E2E Controller will be downloaded with .tar.gz format

  • Shutdown the old E2E Controller on-premises running 1.0.1-b1/b2/b3 version, so that we can assign the same IPv6 address and routes to the new 1.0.1-r1 E2E Controller on-premises

  • Install new E2E Controller OVA 1.0.1-r1 following the 60 GHz cnWave E2E Controller user-guide

  • Assign the E2E Controller IPv6 address of 1.0.1-b1/b2/b3 in 1.0.1-r1 as static address using TUI before onboarding into cnMaestro

NOTE: Cambium strongly prefer to configure old E2E Network IPv6 address.

CAUTION: If different IPv6 address is configured, user needs to change the PoP configuration manually on both device GUI and cnMaestro device configuration page for it to be onboarded.

  • If PoP Address is used as default gateway to reach seed prefix range in 1.0.1-b1/b2/b3 External E2E Controller, user needs to configure the same as a static route(not default gateway) with seed prefix as destination and PoP Address as gateway in new 1.0.1-r1 E2E Controller on-premises using TUI

  • Once the IPv6 address and Route configuration are completed, 1.0.1-r1 E2E Controller on-premises can be onboarded to cnMaestro leaving the manual IPv6 Configuration.

  • In newly onboarded E2E Network, navigate to E2E Network > Tools > Operations > System Backup and Restore, click on “Select File” button to select Backup file which is already downloaded from existing E2E Network.

  • Restore Options window pops up, Select Yes on this option “Are you trying to restore with an existing E2E Network which was managed on this server?” if existing E2E Network was onboarded in cnMaestro. Select the existing network from the list from where the backup was taken.

NOTE: User should select only E2E network which is offline, if Online E2E network is selected, cnMaestro pops up error

  • Click on Apply button to start the Restore process of Old E2E controller configuration

  • User can monitor the status of Restore process. Success notification will appear once the restore is successful.

Option 2: Upgrading 1.0.1-b1/b2/b3 E2E Controller on-premises with 1.0.1-r1 Package

  • Login to the cnMaestro 3.0.0-r19 and navigate to your current E2E Network > Tools > Operations > Software Update

  • Under Package file, click on “Select File” button and choose the E2E controller On-Premises package 1.0.1-r1.tar.gz which is downloaded. Click on “Apply Update” button to upgrade the E2E Controller package.

  • User can monitor the upgrade status of the E2E controller package. User will be notified with Successful message when E2E controller package upgrade is completed

  • E2E Controller OVA and package versions change to 1.0.1-r1
