Generally speaking, we attempt to maintain backward-compatibility from release to release, except where legacy end-of-life events occur. To the best of my knowledge, the major changes from 14.2.1 to 15.0.1, as 15.0.1 were intended as hardware release changes for 450m and bugfixes.
Our normal recommendation is to try to keep all devices on the same software release for best feature compatibility.
Are you upgrading only PMP450 AP and PMP450 SM devices? If so, the upgrade you described should be fine, but I would recommend upgrading to a later more stable release, such as 15.1.5 or, if you're interested in mor QoS features, something like 15.2.1.
The best thing to do is read the release notes for the build you intend to install for any important notes that could break your links, such as the removal of DES in 15.2.
