Video config

Is there a best practice on configuration for streaming video on the pmp450? I’m aware of being heavier on the uplink ratio but are there any other settings that would benefit the deployment? The video is h.264 compression and there are a few ip users on the network.

Hi Mreyes,

This is what I would suggest for typcial video surveillance deployment:

Access Point Configurations:

o SM Isolation (Enabled Option 2 – Forward SM destined packets upstream)

o Downlink Data % (15%)

o QoS settings:

 AP Bandwidth Settings

  • Max Burst Uplink Data Rate (100000 kbps - Maximum)
  • Sustained Uplink Data Rate (100000 kbps - Maximum)
  • Uplink Burst Allocation (2500000 kbps - Maximum)

 Prioritize TCP ACK (Enabled)

 DiffServ Configuration

  • CodePoint Selection (“46” - Video surveillance)
  • Priority Select (“6” – Video surveillance)

 Packet Filter Types:

  • IPv4 Multicast (Enable)
  • Filter Direction (Downlink)

Remote Module Configurations:

o Large VC Data Q (Enabled)

o QoS settings:

 MIR Bandwidth Settings

  • Sustained Uplink Data Rate (100000 kbps - Maximum)
  • Uplink Burst Allocation (2500000 kbps - Maximum)
  • Max Burst Uplink Data Rate (100000 kbps - Maximum)
  • Enable Broadcast / Multicast Data Rate (Disabled)

 Priority Settings:

  • Low Priority Uplink CIR (0 kbps)
  • Hi Priority Channel (Enabled)
  • Hi Priority Uplink CIR (0 kbps)
  • Prioritize TCP ACK (Enabled)

 DiffServ Configuration

  • CodePoint Seletion (“46”- video surveillance)
  • Priority Select (“6” – video surveillance)

Hope this help.
