What are the specifics concerning subnet allocation?

Each AP module presents one IP address to the network. SM modules may be configured not to take up IP address space. AP IP addresses should not be routable over the Internet unless protected by a firewall. It is highly recommended that the network administrator properly plan their IP allocation. IP management starts from the beginning and a good plan must be executed to aid in future network growth. It is highly recommended that the AP IP?s not share the same subnet as your user?s IP space.

Subnets should be developed for multiple scenario's. Examples are:

      Management subnets
      Server Subnets
      Server Backup subnets
Server Database subnets (keeps db traffic off public interface
      5.7 SM's
      5.2 SM's
      2.4 SM's
      Backhaul only subnet
The list is endless. With VLSM you can break up your IP space to create multiple subnets with varying sizes of available hosts per subnet.
