Who's going to be brave and try 8.2.4?

Just making sure everyone noticed the new release…

We’ll hang back until there’s some feedback, but I’m eager to hear from those of you who will no doubt dive in and get your eyebrows singed!

I am forced to be on the 8.x firmware and anything is better then 8.2.2. I am currently running 8.2.4 on one of my sites with reduced problems from 8.2.3 and 8.2.2.

this is from tier three regarding 8.2.4

#1 : The main problem we corrected was a FPGA fix for P7 and P8 hardware ware the SM would go IDLE from the AP’s point of view, but the SM still showed that it is registered on it’s end.

#2 : I just received the final draft of the Release Notes for 8.2.4, so you can view what has been fixed in 8.2.4. (Please see attachment)

#3 : The Following is what our test team does when a software release is given to them :

A. Upgrade/downgrade tests using CNUT and Prizm
B. Inoperability tests between different versions of AP and SM
C. Extensive throughput tests with all packet sizes using ixia generator
D. Various ranging, delay tests
E. Extensive stability tests with ftp traffic over multiple days D large sector testing with 210 SMs registered to one AP
F. Automated SNMP, authentication etc…
G. And a multitude of other tests, all in all adding to 1000 - 1200 test cases for small point releases and a significant more for major releases including field tests.

#4 & #5 : There are about 12 Customers who have 8.2.4 and they have NOT reported any problems

Thanks Vince!

We all appreciate the feedback!

We’re running 8.2.2 where we have to be running v8 and are relatively stable, so we’ll wait a while longer.

Hope your network settles down with this release.

Good luck.

Today, we upgrade one of our main pop, which consist 5 P9 Adv AP’s and 1 P9 Std 2400 AP and 150+ customer

It just took +/- 20 minutes to upgrade 1 AP

Because we never run problems with 822 so hopefully 824 wont either. Everything look nice…

Upgraded one of our sites from 8.2.2 to 8.2.4 Wednesday night. 325+ Sm’s. The transition went smoothly.

We have not experienced any issues so far, and it appears to have cleared up the P8 SM idle issue.

It is a little early to hear about any NAT issues, but i’m eager to see what will happen in the future.

Although this is a recent upgrade, it does appears to be a stable release.

Just a note…I just set a sm for none on radio, so that I knew I had a good link for upgrade. After the upgrade, it went and set all channels as checked…May cause issues if you have a sm that can possibly see 2 ap’s and register…
