I don’t know that Cambium monitors this, but I figured I’d post it anyway. We’re about to order some Mikrotik and Ubiquiti products to run through some testing. As an ISP we NEED access to more affordable hardware in order to compete with the cable and dsl companies. We’ve already started using Mikrotik for several backhaul links and they are blowing away our PTP600’s and 500’s at a fraction of the cost. I’m getting more than 200mbps of actualy usable aggregate throughput on backhauls that I paid about 100 dollars a peice for. So now we’re looking at trying other hardware for access points and subscribers as well since we can get mega bandwidth out of them (again for much less money). So I’m wondering if Cambium has any desire to address any of this with some of the future products that are rumoured to be aound the corner. We’ve been a loyal Canopy user for 8 years now, but the average user is asking for alot more bandwidth these days and they don’t want to pay a fortune for it.
Just a thought.
I’m right there with you…I do not want to use Ubiquiti, but I can get three of their radios for the price of one SM…
Come on Cambium, we need innovation and competitive pricing…
This is also an issue we find ourselves faced with - we’ve also been on Canopy for over 7 years now and would love to see a new range of competitively priced equipment!
