LINKPlanner v5.0.0 Now Available

A new release of the LINKPlanner is available from https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/linkplanner

The Windows version of this release is now a Cambium signed executable.

This release changes LINKPlanner from 32 bit to 64 bit, which has two significant consequences:

  • PTP 300, PTP 400, PTP 500 and PTP 600 products are not supported in this release, please continue to use V4.9.1 if you have networks containing these products
  • On windows this version does not always install in the same directory as existing versions. 64 bit programs should also be under Program Files rather than Program Files (x86). It is recommended that you install this in the Program Files directory, which will mean that the V4.9.1 version is also still available if required for older products, otherwise please delete previous versions before installing.

There are a lot of new LINKPlanner features in this release which are documented in the User Guide, see http://linkplanner.cambiumnetworks.com/doc/

The key features of 5.0.0 are:

New or changed features

  • General

o   Convert underlying code to run on 64-bit, updating associated code libraries, resulting in changes to the embedded icon library.

o   Changed project file structure to be more space efficient. Project files will be saved as *.lpp instead of *.ptpprj. LINKPlanner versions earlier than V4.8.7 will not be able to read *.lpp files.

o   Added optional feature to support clutter within LINKPlanner including the ability to request and display clutter along the profile together with functionality in LINKPlanner to modify default colors and heights and edit clutter type along the path.

To enable or disable clutter, tick or untick the Use Clutter? option in Project Properties and if required configure the clutter heights information.

Note that LINKPlanner is using clutter data sources that allow Cambium to freely distribute the data. These sources have varying resolutions, 30 m in the United States, 100 m in Europe and 300 m in the rest of the world. The data sources in some areas are more focused on the classification of vegetation than building use, therefore users should consider whether the clutter in their area is appropriate and if necessary, adjust the default height values.

o   Changed the way that obstructions are portrayed when the “Use Clutter” option is enabled such that the obstructions are now across a full pixel rather than at a point.

image002.jpg

o   When “Use Clutter” is enabled updated the obstruction loss algorithm to use the delta Bullington method for a general terrestrial path from ITU-R P526-14.

o   Added ability to move a connected site and automatically update the profiles to all PTP and PMP links connected to that site.

This can be changed from the sites view and in the Windows version sites can also be dragged in the Google map view.

image003.png

Access to the internet is required to automatically update the profiles.

o   Added ability to remote individual APs up to 100m away from a central hub location.

Like moving the sites this can either be changed using known coordinates in the AP Details panel or the AP can be dragged in the Google map view in the windows version.

image004.png

Use Apply to confirm the move, Cancel to return to the previous location or Reset to return the AP to the same location as the central hub coordinates.

If access to the internet is available, when the AP is moved all the profiles to the connected subscribers will be updated.

image005.jpg

o   Added capability to change beamwidth, range and orientation of AP antennas in the map views.

Select the outer circles and drag to change the beamwidth, select the middle circle and drag to change the azimuth and range of the AP sector.

image006.jpg

o   Improved the ability to select individual overlapping APs in the map views.

Use the up and down arrow keys to switch between overlapping APs

image007.png

o   Added a group capability to hub sites, to allow APs to be classified into separate layers.

  • Hub level reports can be created either for all APs or per group.
  • Best Server Analysis can be run either for all APs or per group
  • Added an overview Performance Summary at the hub level, which is also either for all APs or an individual group

The group function can be used to help organize a project into multiple network layers, for example by frequency band, or by installation status (Active or in planning)

o   Modified numeric input control to allow decimal values to be entered as one input.

  • Note that this requires the value to be accepted by pressing enter or moving to another value

o   Added antenna side struts to optional extras for unlicensed products and PTP 820 and automatically to the BOM for PTP 820 NTIA.

  • cnPilot

o   Added e510 to BOM Estimator

  • ePMP

o   Added Canada at 5.1 GHz

o   Changed minimum transmit power for PTP 550 and Force 300 PTP to -9 dBm

  • PTP 700

o   Added CE marked radios to optional extras

o   Added 4.4 to 6.1 GHz sector antenna to PTP 700 HCMP AP

o   Added TD90 Export file options

  • PTP 820

o   Added note to CNT antennas notifying last order date

o   Added 60 and 80 MHz bandwidth options for Canada at 11 GHz

o   Update Commscope 11 GHz antennas to extend to operate across the 10 and 11 GHz bands.

  • Obsolete products

o   PTP 300, PTP 400, PTP 500 and PTP 600 are not supported in the 64-bit versions of LINKPlanner. Please continue to use V4.x.x versions for projects that contain any of these products.

Bug Fixes

  • Corrected HCMP Modulation Mode limits so that the limits set on an end restrict the receive modulation modes at that end.
  • Relax the rules on PTP 550 frequency range checks to prevent valid bandwidth combinations from being excluded. This may result in a few cases where bandwidth combinations are offered that have no valid frequency combinations, which will be shown in the frequency selection.
  • Corrected grouping error on ePMP 3000 with Mu-MIMO if a subscriber is moved out of range of the AP.
  • Corrected issues with PTP 820G BOM quantities for modems and AES licensed keys with the NTIA regulation.
  • 450i - Added missing FCC type approval limits to 5.1 GHz for 15, 30 and 40 MHz bandwidths.
  • Corrected 450i ATEX/HAZLOC to prevent double counting of type approval limits
  • ePMP 11ac products were using ROW SKU transmit power limits in Canada, changed to use FCC transmit power levels.
  • Corrected errors due to change in MU-MIMO feature name from Operating Mode to MIMO Mode.
  • Resized Link Summary panel to allow Lowest Mode Availability at 100.0000% to be visible.

Thank you so much for this!

Fantastic update! Majorly cuts down on my desing time since i now no longer need to import clutter data from Pathloss, link by link.  Thank you!Â
