for some reason some SMs that have been upgraded to 16.1 no longer have the standard protocol filters and only have the 3 custom filters. see attached pics. both os theses SMs are on 16.1

In 16.1 we made an update to remove all protocal filters from that page that the SM does not currently support. So in the case for the SM that only has the 3 custom filters, check to see if NAT or PPPoE mode is turned on. If it is, that would be the cause of this.

Ok fair enough, NAT being enabled explains the behavior I’m seeing.
What about multicast? Does a NAT enabled SM automagically stop multicast?
Yes, a SM with NAT enabled will stop multicast.
