We have a mixture of e1k/e2k/e3k APs and a mixture of e1000/F180/F200/F300 SMs, currently running firmware 4.8.1 across the board. It doesn’t look like they are developing the 4.8.x branch any longer as all updates have been to the 5.9.x branch recently. Are there any downsides or gotchas to us updating to 5.9.2? Any real benefit to updating to 5.9.2 for this older hardware? Thanks for any input!
5.9.1 is the recommended firmware version for the mix of AX and AC radios.
For pure AC/N or mix of AC and N the recommended software version 4.8.1
We’re running 5.9.2 on all of our e1k/e3k/e4k radios and it’s working well. From what I understand, 4.8.1 is the last of that release train and no more work is going into it. The 5.x release train contains bug fixes for these legacy radios as recently as 5.9.2.
Example: CAMBIUM-19915 All Fixed the issue where N-generation SMs reconnected to the Primary AP despite the Primary AP Reconnect feature being disabled.
So if you want to stay up to date with your legacy radios, it’s best to move up to 5.x.
