4950-4980MHz in ePMP F425 - United States

Hi,

Recently we noticed that 4950-4980MHz is available as a choice in the F425 radios. In the past, 5180 is the lowest frequency we have been allowed to use in the 5GHz band here in the U.S. and I believe 4.9 is allocated to public safety requiring licensing - is this still the case? Do you have to apply a license to the radio to be able to use it, or can anyone just fire up on 4950 and hope they don’t get caught? I know that in the PTP650 you need a special key to enable 4.9ghz, why is that not the case with the F425?

We are on 5.8 firmware btw.

What is the radio’s region set to?

Country Code = United States on both ends of the link.

I took a look at one of our other 425 links - this one is on 5.1.3 for both ends, also US country code, and it also has 4950-4980 available. I did however notice that it is only available for 20MHz bandwidths. Once you go up to 40mhz, 5190 is the lowest you can select.
