5.9.1 Firmware

I saw that 5.9.1 firmware for the 4600/4625 had been released and I downloaded it.

But, now I don’t see any reference to it (only RC versions, such as 5.9.1 RC4).

Is 5.9.1 firmware ok to use? Is it the final release for 5.9.1?

5.9.1 is the current release. You should be good to go.

Yes, 5.9.1 is in public release, and is the current release version.

Thought someone had said that this version had backwards “N” model compatibility…

Loaded this on a new 4500 and force 190, and the 190 says “Software version incompatible”…

Any idea when that “feature” will be available???

It’s currently a hidden feature that they’re still working on. You’ll need to make sure that backwards compatibility mode is enabled in the AP’s GUI:

And then to enable legacy N mode requires a CLI command on the AP:

allow_bc_n

NOTE! After reboot you’ll need to turn it back on again.

We did some basic wireless testing on this before deployment. And N stations connected.
But, once on tower. It seems that our client radios using PPPoE that are 200 series. Are not able to get their pppoe information from the concentrator. And can’t pass any traffic.

I guess we are at a standstill on deploying 4k’s until this is figured out or resolved for 200 series backward compatibility… Not sure why this traffic would be an issue though. It’s just layer 2…

Other 300 series radios connected right up, and seemingly got their IP via pppoe, and were fine.
