I think it "misses the mark" - most of the time when techs want to tell the difference between radios, that easy/obvious answer is not possible because the units are not powered up or there's a big box of them taken from an installer's van that needs to be sorted. In those cases, the way to tell the difference is by model number (e.g. 2400SM for FSK via 2492SM for 450) or MAC address written on the label (0a-00-3e-2x for 2.4FSK and 0a-00-3e-4x for 2.4 450).
