Advantage AP 5750APBC - SM Lite 5760SMBC configuration

Hi All,

We have just received a consignment of Canopy equipment,
consisting of 25 SM Lites and 2 Advantage AP. The problem we
have is that the SM are unable to establish a link with the APs.

Below are some bits of information that may be pertinent:

1. Units have been set to factory defaults.
2. Set frequency on the AP to all possible frequencies, SM has
all frequencies enabled.
3. Spectrum on SM shows the AP frequency correctly on the spectrum
analysis.
4. AP Eval shows no AP !!

SM Stats :
1. Device Type : Canopy Lite - 5.7GHz - Multipoint - Subscriber Modem
2. Software Version :CANOPY 7.3.6 Oct 24 2005 12:06:56 SM-DES
3. Software Boot Version :CANOPYBOOT 3.0
4.FPGA Version :020205 (Single, 40MHz ExtBus, DES, )
5. Session Status : AIMING
6. Registered AP: n/a
7. Color Code : 0

AP Stats
1. Device Type : 5.7GHz - Multipoint - Access Point
2. Software Version : CANOPY 7.2.9 Jul 23 2005 01:49:03 AP-DES
3. Software Boot Version : CANOPYBOOT 3.0
4. FPGA Version: 020205 (DES)
5. Registered SM Count : 0
6. GPS Sync Pulse Status : Generating Sync

Many thanks for any help
I had thought that we would be up and running in minutes, not days !!!

Different scheduling?

I would highly recommend you hire someone with canopy experience. Thats what we did when when we first started. There are several things you will need too know.

But if you don’t what to hire someone. Then I would recommend you start by reading the user manual this will be a big help. Then ask your questions again.

make sure SM scan privacy is not enabled.

check scheduling mode on both devices, would be beneficial for you to start on software scheduling.

disable aiming mode on sm. (expanded stats----alignment)

set a color code on ap, and set same color code on SM.

Hi There,

the problem is that the Sm is powering up in aiming mode.
Try changing it to power up in operational mode and make sure you have the same color code on the AP & SM

Things that have been posted, color code, scheduling, ect are all things that need to match, but I believe your problem has to do with the software version running on the AP. The AP needs to be upgraded to 7.3.6. We are running some SM Lites and we needed to upgrade the AP before we could connect the new radios.

I’m not sure if software scheduling was recommended for ease of configuration or what, but hardware scheduling is the way to go if you have equipment capable of it.

Hi Joe

Your solution works ! We upgraded the AP , and changed to hardware scheduling. Works now :-)

Thanks to all

Jay

no worries
