I suspect all the other @Cambium folks will now be leaving.
I also suspect cnMaestro to die for enterprise wireless. That Airspan will use the existing cnMaestro controller platform for their own technology.
To clarify: Airspan will run their own cnMaestro cloud for fixed wireless products. Cambium still have the license to run cnMaestro for products that weren’t part of the Airspan acquisition.

Why didnt Cambium have this detail in the press release? Sounds like Cambium still has the rights to the cnMaestro IP and is going to have recurring revenue, or was sold as split/product fork [Maestro that is]?
Cambium will some how still support cnMaestro for Airspan..? Very interesting decision…
So Cambium administration sells cnMaestro to high bidder and leaves customers hanging, they get their own spin of the cnMaestro platform.. But we’re all stuck holding and waiting for scraps and handouts as far as the current on-prem build?

Forever sour taste in our mouth by how the UK administration firm is handling the business and treating customers. Not like the past cambium.. but who knows what to expect… executive team did leave us all in dark – including their own employee’s.

I’m an engineer, not a lawyer, so I’m not sure I can answer that…
(My impression is that neither company “owns” cnMaestro any more than the other. It’s a split rather than a licensing deal. Some of the cnMaestro developers are now Airspan employees and others have remained with Cambium)

so Consumer / Enterprise Fixed PTP, and the military PTP700 along with contracts went to Airspan..same with mmwave - 60Ghz cnmwave?
If Cambium is slicing up their cnMaestro IP and selling one-off forks. As in “here is the product stack as is, take it and build from it as you wish”.
I am doubtful we will now see a new on-prem build that is full featured removing cloud anchor tie for enterprise… Esp if developers are “moving” to AirSpan. Will see how that plays out. Sour sour.
I know for certain that the cnMaestro team are working very hard to try to support customers as best they can. As an NSE user, you are unfortunately hardest hit by this change.
Simon, is there still discussion about releasing an on-prem version of cnMaestro without the cloud dependency? October 1 is coming fast!
I’m afraid I’m not part of those discussions and I don’t know exactly what the plans are. All I can suggest is that you keep your eye on the Products > cnMaestro category for updates. (Sorry, I know that’s not a helpful answer)

Thank you @Simon_King It is very unfortunate. If NSE is done, that was ViJay’s passion project… his team was doing excellent job. IMHO.
We are to lose ~5-6grand in NSE alone… to now switch vendor. Unless third-party support comes out… NSE itself hit a great price to feature. Undercutting Meraki and other vendor offerings – it allowed us to move off MikroTik routers for certain customers - as we needed better management plane [cnMaestro].
I really appreciate the clarity. Is it still recommended that all of us with cnMatrix switches and Enterprise APs migrate to on-prem by 10/1?

I’m not part of the cnMaestro team (and I’m technically now an Airspan employee myself), so I’m not really in a good position to give advice. I believe this post is still the recommendation for people with cnMatrix switches and Enterprise APs:

@Simon_King Suddenly all my bitchng about not taking away the Access Points GUI, makes perfect sense.
If on prem can’t be built without the anchor… gonna probably have to wait for devices to die.
I checked the GUI and I can still download and upload CLI… gonna test that later as that will define how long and how much I can actually do.

Adjustments in the text file don’t need the encryption key. Edit SSID passphrase and full on EPSK entries. Upload and it works. Tedious and a throw back to 20 years ago when I had to log into each AP to do anything… BUT IT WORKS.

so cnMaestro cloud for enterprise wi-fi will still exist? Or does this still need to find a buyer?

Airspan’s purchase of cnMaestro does not include continued support for the enterprise wifi elements. Cambium is still looking for a buyer for the enterprise segment. If a buyer cannot be found soon, that segment will be liquidated.
