Antenna compatibility between 2.4GHz and 900MHz

I have a couple of spare 24 dBi grid antennas designed for 2.4GHz, which can be either vertical or horizontal polarity.

What would happen if I used one with a 900SMC, assuming I set the grid for horizontal polarity? Would it do very little for the 900MHz band?

I’ve sometimes seen grids listed with two different gain ratings, one for 2.4GHz and one for 5.8GHz, but never for 900MHz vs 2.4GHz. I was wondering if trying to re-use one of these spare grids could avoid the need to purchase a Yagi for an installation.

This is on a tall mast so it isn’t simple to just try it to see what happens. So I want to have the right antenna available when I replace it…

The RF would probably pass right through the grids @ 900MHz regardless of the polarity.

OK, thanks. Due to the mast height, it wouldn't have been easy to just try it first. I'll drop that idea and get a Yagi.
