Guys,
what caching appliances are you using… any one using any p2p appliances ?
I used a netenforcer when I was working for an WISP. I have a client that is looking into using a LOK BOX for his network.
is netenforce a chaching appliance or a traffic shaping appliance… is it any good…
Netenforcer is a traffic shaping appliance. They work OK for shaping traffic, and has the ability to log traffic through an external server. I know they had a few issues with there new software called NetExplorer, it kept dropping VLAN trunks, not to sure if they found a way around it yet.
we use Packeteer for shaping… need a caching appliance
Vj, try open source Squid or Sub Cobalt ( Same as Squid but the commercial stuff).
we used to run Squid, but then it started falling over when we started to load it… maybe I will give it another shot…
How do I size up the box ?
is that Sub Cobalt or Sun Cobalt ?
We have been using 2 Sun Cobal RAQ2’s as DNS servers for years. They run and run and run and run…
is sun cobal the hardware or they come pre-packaged… I just need a caching server that will work… I will talk to visolve they seem to specialise in Squid…
Like I said we had it running, and then when we got to about 200 customers the box started dying on us, we beefed up the box but still no luck… so I gave up on it… thinking it can’t handle the load…
but I can’t seem to find anthing else on the market…
