Is there a way to get a history of “Assists”. After switching to cnMaestro X I noticed the assists section. So I diligently went through the list of assists and made the suggested changes. Every since then our network is a complete disaster.
I have APs that are constantly going offline. I have a switch that is constantly going offline and users at multiple sites without network access.
The changes I made were all on APs and switches. I’m at a complete loss here. Our CN gear has always been rock solid.
I’d still be interested in an answer about the assists history but…
I was able to resolve my issues which were mostly due to inexperience with cnMatrix switches. The changes I made (prompted by Assists) affected the Management VLAN. I had enabled ARP Inspection. This just caused anything connected to that VLAN (which is everything currently) to completely lose their connectivity, or for them to become unstable. This is why the APs connected to the switches were flapping from Online to Offline. In the end I physically factory reset them and let them re-download the configs and now things seem to have stabilized.
Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI) relies on the DHCP Snooping binding table to map devices’ IP and MAC addresses, preventing unauthorized devices from poisoning the router’s ARP table.
However, enabling DAI without proper planning can disrupt connectivity, including causing APs to go offline. After DHCP Snooping is enabled, all devices must restart the DHCP process to obtain or renew their IP addresses so the switch can add them to the binding table.
The switch will block ARP packets from any device not in the binding table. Since APs may lose connectivity, switches connected to APs must be rebooted to force the APs to restart their DHCP process.
