So we've had this very short 2 mile PTP 820 link that we hung up approximately 1 year ago and it has been flawless. While setting up a new PTP 820 on our network I referred back to this link to compare notes and found that I must have forgotten to take the link out of fixed modulation and fixed power. My question is if I enable ATCP and ACM on one end of the link first, will it disconnect the link until I reconfigure both ends with ATCP and ACM? I ask this so I know if I have to schedule this or not. Thanks.
Yes, you'll have to take an outage, I'm afraid.
Enabling ATPC won't cause a link outage, but going from fixed modulation mode to adaptive requires a reboot at both ends of the link.
