Cambium DDNS

Hello,

Has Cambium considered providing their own free DDNS service that can be enabled on NSE or other products? Instead of us having to use a third-party paid service and leverage API key?

To name some, Meraki and MikroTik offer free DDNS service on their hardware.

Perhaps a feature request?

It would be nice to see the public IP that the device is connecting from.

But I use Mikrotik at the router, switches, and 60Ghz PtP. So I have several things at the site providing DDNS.

Noted. Same here, although if we go to Cambium NSE - we lose DDNS from MT.

Hi Springs ;). Also see you on MT forums. We’re in process of moving what we can to Cambium [even routers - to NSE appliance]. Given what is going on with 'Tik and upcoming 7.17 release(s).

Gonna need a little insight about “Whats going on with Tik and the upcoming 7.17 releasse.”

We need to take this to another forum to discuss the NSE.

Take a look at the long 7.17 beta thread. “device-mode”, and Normis and team thinking it is “okay” for end-users or us a professionals to truck roll to perform manual press of button on devices.

To downgrade routerOS?

Another trick I have used for years… a hAP AC2 inside a network can provide a Zerotier Connections when I don’t have control of the router infront of me. And I can schedule ip cloud update if the outer router doesn’t have DDNS.

Hi Anthony,

We have no plans to provide a DDNS service at the moment, but I’ll keep an eye out for the poll results. The third party services supported by NSE does include free ones like noip (and is also compatible many others that support the DynDNS2 protocol).

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for replying. Please keep an eye and hope are mindful to competition on market. Meraki and MikroTik provide DDNS as part of the hardware/subscription.

IE: DDNS address automatically assigned to WAN interfaces. We can then use this for creating DNS A-Records for Public DNS or for assigning for VPN connection.

@Springs - Look on 'Tik forums for 7.17beta and 7.17rc1 that just dropped
