So if the 900 spectrum is hosed, and a guy has gotten really partial to his canopy system, what options are there for nlos delivery in the platform?
900MHz is really your only good NLOS solution in Canopy. Are both polarities hosed?
More AP’s closer to the customers.
Depending on the distance/obstruction 2.4 may work.
P400 Gear.
But it is a tid bit expensive
400 although it’s OFDM is low power 5.4 and is not going to get through trees.
I have heard that 3.65 has had some impressive results with nLOS but with the limited spectrum available it’s not a viable solution for PMP in our area.
Motorola is releasing the PMP 430 in November which will provide 40 Mbps throughput in 5.8 GHz for LOS and nLOS connectivity.

Is this going to be a US product?
Yes, I received the update via the North America Channel Partner Newsletter. The specifications sheet still list “TBD” for FCC and IC Certification Numbers. I uploaded the brochure and the pre-launch specs to our website if you want to download and check them out.

How hosed Steve? You might try a cavity filter if it is out of band interference.
You can also make sure you’re using a 17dbi yagi antenna. The added gain may help.
Ok, so what is the cost for the AP, and the SMs? Anybody have that?
I’m curious how well it works for NLOS.

Nothing over -50 type hosed, not worth looking at other pol
suspect ham/railroad combination platter
It may be low power emissions very nearby (unknown antennas on same structure) all the rr xings have gps antennas and some thick 3 foot omni on a telephone pole, im assuming this site is a collector for the positioning data system or some such rot.
We are planning to get h/v seperation, but im seeing it is likely going to be an issue so i would like to know what nlos is an option. We have the vpol 2.4 spectrum saturated with fhss, it penetrates marginally less than 900, but throughput bites.
I heard a nasty rumor that white space isnt coming from moto, so that options gone if its truthful
moto doesnt have any of the 3.65 canopy pmp right?
Moto will have some 3.65GHz equipment soon… PMP 320 series. I’ve heard it should be released by the end of the year, but don’t know that for sure yet.
the last I had talked to a moto rep (last winter) they had tabled 3.65 in leiu of white space, did they refocus on it?
900MHz is really your only good NLOS solution in Canopy. Maybe 900MHz filtered?
the noise floor would prohibit the success of a filter. Ive never used a filter, but Im betting their -50 trumps my filter. It would be nice if I am wrong though
