cnArcher v1.3 available for Android

Update (2/4/2020): v1.3 is officially out of beta

What's New

cnMaestro Sync

When you login to your cnMaestro account from the app, the app will sync information from cnMaestro to support the following new functionality.

  • Show the three closest APs during install
  • Download a staging configuration from cnMaestro and allow installer to push this to SM when starting install
  • Automatically generate the scan list for the network

"cnMaestro Sync" is available to all cnMaestro users for now, but will be limited to "Pro" accounts once cnMaestro Pro is released.

Nearby APs

Before starting the AP evaluation phase, cnArcher will show the list of 3 nearest APs from the user's current location. For this to work correctly, the tower/AP location must be set correctly in cnMaestro, and you must login to cnMaestro from the app.

Only one compatible AP will be displayed from each tower. Only APs that are likely to provide coverage to the current location will be displayed (based on azimuth, beamwidth and max range of the AP).

You can tap on an AP to start AP evaluation with the "tag" set to the AP name.

Initial Config

This feature downloads and caches a configuran file for the SM from cnMaestro. When you start an install, you can apply the configuration file to the SM. This provides an alternate to pre-staging the SM prior to installation. Since the configuration file is the native text based configuration format of the SM, it also allows you to set parameters on the SM that are not supported in cnArcher GUI.

To use this feature, please create a configuration template for PMP and/or ePMP SM in cnMaestro and set the description to “cnArcher_Initial_Configuration”. There is no special requirement on the template name. Please make sure that only one PMP template and one ePMP template exists with this description.

Once cnMaestro is configured, go to "Settings > cnMaestro Settings" in cnArcher. Login to cnMaestro if not already done. Then click on "Validate & Sync" button. Now if you go back the home scrren, you will see a new box called "Initial Configuration" at the bottom of the screen (once SM has been detected), with options to "Skip" or "Apply" the configuration file.

Automatic Scan List Selection

After each sync with cnMaestro, the scan list configuration in the app will be updated based on the configuration of the APs in the network. In addition to automating the scan list selection, this also reduces the scan list to the minimum required.

When APs are added or removed from the network, the scan list in the app will also be updated with each sync with cnMaestro.

Installer Notes

At the end of an "install" or "quick align" operation, the installer is given an option to add some notes. The notes are saved to the installation summary and can be viewed later.

Chrome OS Support

cnArcher now supports Chrome OS. Since most Chrombooks don't have GPS, the ability to update the SM location from GPS, and listing Nearby APs are not supported. cnArcher will also not be able to manage the Wi-Fi connection directly. User will have to configure Wi-Fi manually.

Report a Bug

We have improved the bug reporting capability when you use "Report a Bug" from the menu. You can now specify the feature or screen you are having issues with along with your comments.

Our PMP450m scan list is not updating but the ePMP is working fine

Any Idea?

Can you use the "Report a bug" menu to send us the debug logs?

This is related to how decimal point is handled in South Africa locale. PMP returns frequency with a decimal pioint, while ePMP does not, which is why only PMP is affected. We are testing the fix, and it will be posted in the next couple of days.

A new version with the fix has been posted. Please update the app to v1.3.10 and try again.
