cnMaestro 5.0.0 (Cloud) Release Notes

Introduction

This document highlights new features and significant updates in cnMaestro Cloud.

PON (OLT and ONU) Device Support Phase 1

cnMaestro supports the following monitoring and management functionalities for Passive Optical Network (PON) devices (OLTs and ONUs).

Onboarding PON OLT Device

Important: OLT Device Onboarding
You must create a PON Network and PON Site before Onboarding a PON OLT.

The OLT can be onboarded by claiming its MSN (Manufacturer Serial Number) in cnMaestro by clicking the Claim Device option under Onboard > PON.

Alternatively, onboarding can be done by entering Cambium ID and Onboarding Key in the OLT Device UI.

Once onboarded, the OLT is placed into the Onboarding Queue with the Onboarding Status “Waiting for Approval” under the Onboard > PON tab. Select Edit Device to choose the PON Network and Site.

Home Site for cnPilot Home and RV22 Home Mesh Devices

A new Home Site type is available for cnPilot Home devices and newly introduced RV22 Home devices. These device types can no longer be placed in Enterprise Sites.

Guest Access Portal Self-Registration (SMS and Email) X

Guest Access Portal Self Registration is available for business visitors, retail customers, convention attendees, sports fans, and hotel guests. Users can register through a splash page or with administrator assistance.

To configure Self-Registration, in the Guest Access Portal navigate to Access > Enterprise > Self Registration.

Google Authentication is available for Wi-Fi onboarding of BYOD employees and students in educational environments.

Custom Enterprise Applications X

Configure Custom Applications identified by Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDNs) or IP Addresses to capture statistics or control Web access. Navigate to Configuration > Wi-Fi Profiles > AP Group > Services and enable “Enable Custom Application” under Application Visibility.

Enterprise Device and User Group Policy for Application Control

User Group Policies map a user to an Access Control Policy (ACP) and VLAN using a RADIUS Filter ID. To configure User Group Policy, navigate to Configuration > Wi-Fi Profiles > AP Groups > Configuration > Access Control and click Add New button under User Group Policy.

Device Policies map an Access Control Policy (ACP), Device Class, and Type. To configure, navigate to Configuration > Wi-Fi Profiles > AP Groups > Configuration > Access Control and click Add New button under Device Policy.

Antenna Model Configuration for XE3-4TN Device

A new option is added to configure transmit power for Radio 1, Radio 2, and Radio 3 based on the Antenna model selected. This option is applicable only to the XE3-4TN device model. There are three ways to configure the Antenna model.

Device Level

Navigate to XE3-4TN Device > Configuration > Advanced Settings > Radio and Location . Select the Antenna Model under Radio1/2/3.

AP Group Level

Navigate to AP Group > Configuration > Radio > External Antennas and select appropriate Antenna model.

Bulk Configuration

Navigate to System > Configuration > Select XV-XE series > Select XE3-4TN Devices > Configure > Select AP group from the Drop-down list > Radios and Select the Antenna model.

NSE 3000 Enhancements

Import/Export Option for DHCP MAC Binding List

NSE Groups enable importing MAC-to-IP mappings directly from a CSV file for scalable deployments. Users can append the imported bindings to the existing list or replace them.

DHCP Options

NSE Group in cnMaestro now allows users to set DHCP options for a DHCP pool. To configure, navigate to NSE Group> Network> Add new VLAN.

Conditional DNS Forwarding

Conditional DNS Forwarding allows users to specify DNS servers for certain domains. DNS requests for the configured domains are forwarded to the specified servers instead of the default DNS server. To configure, navigate to NSE Group> Services> Conditional Forwarding Rules > Add New.

Dynamic DNS (DDNS Providers)

DDNS enables NSE 3000 to be identified by a well-defined hostname on the WAN. Users can configure additional DDNS providers in Device Release 1.5, including Cloudflare, Dyn, GoDaddy, Hetzner, Namecheap, Porkbun, Route53, and other DynDns2 compliant providers. To configure, navigate to NSE Group> WAN> Dynamic DNS > Enable checkbox.

Source Network Address Translation (SNAT) Pooling

SNAT in NSE 3000 maps private internal IP addresses to the public IP address of the WAN. Starting from NSE release 1.5, users can configure additional public IP addresses on each available WAN interface for SNAT, allowing up to 8 public IP addresses. To configure, navigate to NSE Group> WAN> Source NAT Rules > Add New.

Note: Ensure you configure the additional IP address on the WAN before setting the source NAT rules.

Traffic Flows

Starting in release 1.5, NSE 3000 provides the capability to report existing flow entries for a selected client device.

NSE Groups

Inside the NSE Group, the default VLAN ID is changed from VLAN 2000 to VLAN 1. This is applicable only in newly created NSE Groups and does not impact existing ones.

Block External DNS Servers

NSE 3000 now functions as the default DNS server for all devices in the network. Any DNS requests from a client going to global DNS servers like Cloudflare or Google are redirected to the DNS server on NSE.

Vulnerability Enhancements

Vulnerability reporting is enhanced to provide additional information for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs). For each CVE, NSE 3000 includes a probability score ranging from 0 to 100%, indicating the likelihood of vulnerability exploitation.

Details about IDS/IPS Threat

The Security > Threat page now provides details of threats detected by the IDS/IPS engine of NSE. Previously users had to navigate to Notification > Event to get the details about the detected threat.

Serial Number (MSN) Claim for NSE and cnMatrix Devices at Site Level

Existing device claim support at the Site level is enhanced to accommodate NSE and cnMatrix devices. All enterprise devices (NSE, cnMatrix, and Wi-Fi APs) can be claimed into the Site.

Automatic Spectrum Analyzer for PMP X

Analyze and monitor the wireless spectrum to optimize network performance on PMP devices running software version 22.1.0 and above. Navigate to Network Services > Spectrum Analyzer and click Add New to add a new Spectrum Scan for APs. Also, access the Spectrum Analyzer’s last scan and Noise Floor results at the device level Dashboard.

CNSSNG-12812 cnPilot R-series dual radio devices (r-201P, r-195W) AP Group country code/SSID configured from overrides getting applied only to 2.4 GHz radio.
CNSSNG-12888 Connected Clients count in the WLAN page is not properly shown when SSID is overridden for the WLAN at Device level.
CNSSNG-13054 Mismatch in Clients count for cnPilot E-series device at WLAN and AP Group configuration level.
CNSSNG-14030 CBRS race condition: SM “stuck” in cnMaestro during reparenting if import and start occurs as SMs arrive in onboarding queue. Workaround : To avoid this issue, follow the suggested SM reparenting procedures listed in the latest version of Cambium CBRS standalone procedures document.
CNSSNG-14518 Device Type selection needs to be provided at Site and AP Group for Report generation.
CNSSNG-14932 PMP/ePMP Configuration Backup: LAST BACKUP date and time is not updated if device under an MSP account.
CNSSNG-15356 If a device has a weak serial number in a non-CBRS build, and the sector is imported first, the device will not contact cnMaestro.
CNSSNG-15432 Deleting a device in Base Infrastructure and claiming it immediately to another Managed Account returns Device Registration Failed message.
CNSSNG-15595 cnMatrix Hostname falls back to old Hostname if the template is pushed for the first time (if a Switch Group already exists).
CNSSNG-15656 Duplicate entries observed in 802.11ax Clients Report.
CNSSNG-16197 CBSDID search will not work when device was synced from tool without obtaining grant first. Workaround : Perform CBSDID search from domain proxy view on Cloud to obtain mac address, then perform MAC address search on tool to find the device.
CNSSNG-18856 cnVision Client is not shown under hub. Workaround : Reboot the Client
CNSSNG-18913 On resizing, the graph/widgets are not properly rendering.
CNSSNG-18923 After migration Reports Job page is empty due to cached data. Workaround : Clear Cache and Cookies after migration.
CNSSNG-18927 The configuration push from the Onboarding page is getting device timeout error in ePMP 1000 Hotspot device.
CNSSNG-18936 Graph plotting is empty if the page is zoomed out/in.
CNSSNG-19264 Unmanaged expired device approve button is not disabled.
CNSSNG-19275 Issues related to offline alarm of expired devices.
CNSSNG-20508 Last Super Administrator deletion should be shown proper error message.
CNSSNG-20605 User-Defined Overrides (Advanced) should be handled from Switch Groups > Switches > Actions > Configuration tab.
CNSSNG-20745 AP Count is -1 in Anchor when deregistering the device from Anchor.
CNSSNG-20820 After server upgrade, device throws error [Invalid CBSD ID and Grant ID], even though the Domain Proxy shows the device is registered.
CNSSNG-21068 Not able to deregister or delete the SM when PMAC mismatched (SM reported different PMAC). Workaround: Reinitialize the SM from inside the sector of the AP, not by directly searching for the SM in the tool; then deregister and delete the device.
CNSSNG-21264 Auto refresh does not work when Site/Tower/Device details are updated in Network level map.
CNSSNG-21271 SM status is missing in AP details on map.
CNSSNG-21345 RF Statistics related information should not be available in reports for XV type device.

CNSSNG-31439 Sponsor does not receive approval mail when we have multiple domains in Domain list.
CNSSNG-31487 Top Active Alarms link is not working for NSE in Enterprise View.
CNSSNG-31537 The alarms are not displayed upon selecting the alarms count on alarms severity grid.
