cnMaestro 5.0.0 (On-Premises) Release Notes

Introduction

This document highlights new features and significant updates in cnMaestro On-Premises.

Important: OVA Upgrade
cnMaestro 5.0.0 On-Premises is distributed as an OVA file, which can be installed as a new Virtual Machine or used to update an existing installation running cnMaestro 4.1.0.

Update 2/13: Customers should upgrade 3.2.0 and 4.0.1 installations to 4.1.0 before upgrading to 5.0.0.

Important: System Backup
It is strongly recommended to take a System Backup prior to upgrading to 5.0.0. This can be done in the UI at Administration > Server > Operations. This is required in case you ever want to downgrade to the previous version.

My instance tells me te following:

Unsupported Upgrade - 5.0.0-r5 OVA cannot be applied on 4.1.0-r3

Any way to upgrade 4.1.0-r3 to 5.0.0-r5?

Info @All,

the problem was related to AVX, changing the CPU emulation on hypervisor to host made it work.

Thanks. Same here on Proxmox 8.1. Changed CPU to host and upgrade ok.

I don’t know in which language you all are talking in. We run cnMaestro using KVM as the hypervisor. Any thoughts on that we would need to do to be able to install 5.0.0-r5?

We are not able to use cnMaestro 5.0.0-r5 because the xeon processors in our servers do not support the avx instruction. I guess we are stuck on 4.1.0-r3 forever.

The cloud based version is a non starter.

Hi, I have mounted the new OVA with cnmaestro 5 and I have not been able in any way to restore the backup of version 4.1, without knowing of any bugs in this regard, let me know if possible, it always gives an error once supposedly finished. Thank you.

We have the same problem. Have you figured it out?

Not yet, this week I will talk to support

I have 2 anchor accounts, 1 is where the SAS is paid and all our devices are connected to the other (long story IDK). Well as part of the migration I wanted to change and consolidate to a single anchor account. So on the new instance of cnMaestro I used the anchor account that is used to pay the bills, the backup came off cnMaestro that used the other cambiumID.

I had to reload r4 because for some reason you cannot change the cambiumID and make it the same as our other cnMaestro and then the backup loaded just fine. Then I was able to upgrade to R5.

OK, thanks for sharing the experience, I’ll look into that topic.

Hi, I have finally been able to solve the problem, the way to do it was to first delete the anchor to the cloud, then generate the backup and then restore that backup in release 5, otherwise it had not worked for me.
