cnMaestro 5.2.0 Captive Portal – No Internet After Roaming Between APs

I am using cnMaestro 5.2.0 on-premise with an external guest access portal (captive portal).

AP: XV2-21X, XV2-23T

Switch: EX1010P

WLAN: Same SSID across AP

APs are in same AP group.

VLAN: Same VLAN across all APs

Same IP pool

Security: Enhanced Open (OWE)

Issue:

When a client connects to the WLAN for the first time, authentication through the captive portal works fine and internet access is available.

However, when the client moves/roams to another AP, the device:

Remains connected at the radio level (shows connected to the AP)

Keeps the same IP address

But loses internet access

Authentication prompt appears after some time.

Question:

Is there any known issue or required configuration in cnMaestro 5.2.0 for client roaming with captive portal + Enhanced Open?

Do we need to enable any specific roaming, mobility, or session-persistence settings to maintain internet access when moving between APs?

Hi,

We tested a similar scenario in the lab with WLAN configured as OWE + External Captive Portal.

The client connected to AP1 and completed captive portal authentication successfully, and was able to access the internet.

After roaming to AP2, the client was still able to access the internet, and the captive portal session was maintained across the roam. The issue was not observed.

Could you please enable the following command in cnMaestro:
AP Group → User-Defined Overrides → service debug wmd logging-level debug

Then reproduce the issue and share the tech support files from both APs.
