cnPilot Home AP -configuration in bridge mode with VLANs

Summary:

This document provides step by step guide to configuration cnPilot Home AP in bridge mode with VLAN.

Solution:

This configuration will help to assign DHCP IP from two different VLAN to LAN & WLAN ports. Based on configuration, LAN & WLAN user will get different IP addresses, gateway & DNS. So, user will be authorized to access services based on which port they are connected & what VLAN mapped to the port.

Topology Diagram:

R190 management VLAN & IP: VLAN 10, 192.168.10.10/24

LAN clients: VLAN 20, 192.168.20.0/24

WLAN clients: VLAN 30, 192.168.30.0/24

Configuration:

We need to create three WAN interfaces as below.

  • Service “Management”, VLAN 10, WAN IP mode “DHCP” * NAT enabled
  • Service “Internet”, VLAN 20 (all LAN ports mapped), WAN IP mode “Bridge
  • Service “Other”, VLAN 30 (all WLAN/SSID mapped), WAN IP mode “Bridge

First, delete default WAN interface “1_MANAGEMENT_VOICE_INTERNET_R_VID”. Navigate to Network>>WAN page from the R190 GUI and use button “Delete Connect” to delete the interface.

Then, create three WAN interface as per below screenshots. On the WAN configuration page, select Connect Name “New connection” & appropriate service from the drop-down options to create new WAN interface.

Virtual WAN Interface 1: Service “Management”, VLAN 10, WAN IP mode “DHCP” * NAT enabled.

Virtual WAN Interface 2: Service “Internet”, VLAN 20 (all LAN ports mapped), WAN IP mode “Bridge”.

Virtual WAN Interface 3: Service “Other”, VLAN 30 (all WLAN/SSID mapped), WAN IP mode “Bridge”.

Navigate to Wireless configuration page and Configure SSIDs.

DHCP server is in the upstream network. R190 Management Interface will get IP from the VLAN 10 DHCP pool. On the R190, Internet & Other interface will not get IP address as WAN IP mode configured to Bridge.

LAN hosts are getting IP from VLAN 20 DHCP pool.
