CNUT AP refresh changing/corrupting root passwords on 450/450b CPEs during discovery

I realize Software Release 5.0.3 / 2021-08-31 may no longer be officially supported, but we still utilize it in our operations. I have the option enabled to discover IP information for CPE devices when refreshing an AP.

I am observing a specific behavior that I haven’t seen in prior releases. I haven’t confirmed whether this occurs on earlier versions of CNUT nor in situations where versions different than 24.2.2 are in use on the CPE units, and there may be other unique variables in my environment, but the pattern is consistent:

  1. Prior to running the discovery process for a new CPE on a specific AP in CNUT, I verify that the root password on the CPE is correct and set as expected.

  2. During the CNUT discovery process—by the time the Login ID: and Password prompts appear—the root password on the CPE becomes changed or corrupted.

  3. This behavior has been observed on both classic PMP 450 CPE units and 450b variants.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior during AP refreshes, or isolated a specific trigger or firmware interaction causing it?
