Cold Weather Issues?

Anyone else having any issues.  I have had to turn off auto negotiate on the Ethernet links and having random reboots.

No issues here, have 5 sites on beta load and it hit around 12 degrees here today.  What type of surge suppression are you using?

What was the temperature today Brad?  What hardware platform are you on?  450, 320, 100?

Issue resolved.  It turned out that all affected units were installed using RJ-45 connectors from the same "batch".  The theory is that the connectors are shrinking too much in the cold weather.

Thank you Cambium for making such an excellent product !!!

Sorry for the bump, but that's really interesting.

We've been having a lot of cold problems with both APs and CPEs.  The APs are due to a memory issue but I was never given a straight answer on what the problem with the CPEs was.

Were you able to repair them yourself, or did you have to send them in for repair?  Most of our CPEs are out of warranty, so I'm hoping its the former.

tegstewart,

What type of radios  were you having a problem with?

We're having the same issue. We're using RF Armor connectors don't have problem with the airfiber and SAF radio but will still try a other brand of connector see if it's fix the problem.

I really like those radios and hope it will fix our problem.

Radios are ePMP 1000 5 Ghz GPS Sync.

Edit: Added radio model and change connector brand from Ubnt Toughcable connector to RFArmor connector.

We use RF armor RJ45's at tower sites, and we use generic RJ45's at customer's sites. We've had no ethernet issues at all, and we've seen temps as low as 1 degree fahrenheit.

We are also seeing issues that appear to be related to cold weather.  Unable to access AP's management, but the ap still works.  This has happened to multiple AP's

Today I've had a couple AP's go completely down though, requiring a reboot to function again.

We upgraded to 2.6, issue is still there.

Hello,

Could you please provide information on the #of APs impacted, the MAC addresses of the APs and lastly a crashlog by typing the following command in CLI -

debug crashlog

You just need admin access to do this. Once we verify whether we have a hardware problem or not  we will work closely with you to provide replacement units asap.

Sakid

It's been random so far.  I'm only seeing it with our 2.4ghz radios, 5.8 has been ok.

I've read through the WISPA mailing list that some people are using 48v POE and not having issues.  We were considering trying that.

So far today 7 AP's have done this.  Temperature is in the 20's tonight (F)

Is it possible to pull the crash log off of CPE radios?

here is the crashlog from one, where the interface was not responding for about three hours (but the SMs were all still connected and working fine), and it just now rebooted itself and started responding again

Hi Mathew, I sent you an offline email for additional information.

Thanks,

Sriram

i can confirm (for now) i was see one of my 5 ghz ptp force GPS start to reboot when was cold. I try to update to 2.6 and i see the port connect disconnect 5 time to finally boot on the 2.5.1 bank and never be able to update the second bank. We just install a 802.3af POE and the update pass like a charm... So i stay in standby to look if the antenna reboot again and i make a follow up tomorrow morning. For me is not so bad all my network are  ring configure so mpls switch my tunnel auto on the  other link that come back to the tower... Just annoying :P

Hi  jnovak,

On release 2.6 just type in:

debug crashlog

at the CLI.

Hi wvvamike,

My email address is daniel.sullivan@cambiumnetworks.com.  I am the software manager for ePMP.

I would like to set up a time where I can gain access to your system to look at this device.   Can you email me back if this is possible?

Dan

We are experiencing similar issues here, it was down to 10 degrees last night and we saw a few uniits bounce frequently. Please advise.

HI DSMW16,

Please contact me at daniel.sullivan@cambiumnetworks.com.

Same issue here. Doesn't seem to affect all of our radios, but there are a few that have to be power-cycled every morning.  Running 2.6 on all of them.

Thanks,

Vlad
