Config to use V3000s to link V5000s

I have two sites that each have a V5000 and V3000. I want them to mesh over the V3000s. I’m getting something wrong with the config.

All radios on 1.5.2.

Site A
V5000 DN
Aux PoE out On
Aux port set to relay
Copper from Aux port to the V3000 Main port

V3000 DN
Main port set to relay
Copper from Main port to the V5000 Aux Port

Site B (Identical)
V5000 DN
Aux PoE out On
Aux port set to relay
Copper from Aux port to the V3000 Main port

V3000 DN
Main port set to relay
Copper from Main port to the V5000 Aux Port

Should the V3000s be DNs or CNs or one of each?
Should all radios have relay ports set?

Hi Charles,

For your deployment, I prefer V3000s to be configured as DNs.

Yes — the ports of V3000 and V5000 that connect back-to-back should be configured as relay ports.
In your case:
The V5000 Aux Port should be configured as a relay port.
The V3000 Main Port should be configured as a relay port.

Additional Questions:
(Q1)
Are you using cloud cnMaestro for management?
If yes, please invite me* as a Super Administrator so I can review the configuration and share further comments.

(Q2)
How are you powering the V5000 — using a 56V PoE or 48V PoE injector?

(Q3)
If this is an Onboard E2E deployment (without cloud cnMaestro), could you please share the field diagnostics of the Onboard E2E and other nodes currently online?

Thanks and regards,

Hi Prasanna,

Thanks for the reply. I got it working today. I didn’t make any changes in the config, but did a controller >> config >> advanced >> optimize polarity, channel, golay, superframe, a couple reboots, and everything came up. Frustrating to not have a root cause, but happy it’s working now.

No need for further troubleshooting as far as I’m concerned.

I am using the 56 V 60 W PoE injector. I think I saw some documentation saying not to run the 3000s off of a 5000, but we have several of these links and they are working great.

Thanks again,
Charles
