Deleting a route on an SM via telnet?

When trying to delete a route in an SM via telnet, I get a usage output of this:

route delete 209.188.112.249
Just results in usage output and does not delete the route:
Usage: route                                                                                                                            
       route add    <dest> <netmask> <gateway>                                                                                          
       route delete <dest>

Any suggestions?

Even after adding the route i dont see the route in the route table. Any other option from CLI?

i see the same thing, its like its not committing the route

We looked at this a few years ago. Could never get it to save the route.
