Enterprise cnMatrix – Release 6.2.1 Now Available

:rocket: cnMatrix 6.2.1-r3 is Here – More Resilient, More Capable, Better Managed

We’re excited to announce the availability of Cambium Networks Enterprise cnMatrix Release 6.2.1-r3, delivering enhanced resiliency, broader Layer 3 capabilities, improved interoperability, and important stability fixes across the cnMatrix portfolio.

:glowing_star: What’s New

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: VRRPv2 Support Across All Switch Models

High availability just got better. VRRPv2 is now supported on all cnMatrix switch models, enabling seamless gateway redundancy and improved network uptime across deployments.

:electric_plug: Improved Transceiver Compatibility

To improve interoperability with third-party optics, EX3030RM-P and EX3052RM-P now automatically default to 10G operation when an SFP28 transceiver cannot be positively identified. This change provides more reliable connectivity while maintaining compatibility with a broader range of optics.

:link: Auto-VLAN Support for Port Channels

Auto-VLAN functionality has been extended to port channels, simplifying deployments where aggregated links are used and reducing manual configuration effort.

:hammer_and_wrench: Key Bug Fixes

This release resolves several important issues affecting performance, routing, cloud management, and network stability, including:

  • Fixed incorrect link status indication on EX30xxRM-P fiber ports.
  • Improved DNS resiliency by utilizing the secondary DNS server when the primary becomes unavailable.
  • Addressed ARP resolution issues in large-scale deployments.
  • Resolved cnMaestro configuration synchronization problems involving PIM and static routes.
  • Fixed random default route loss on EX3024F operating as a Layer 3 core switch.
  • Corrected segmentation faults related to PBA MAC-based policy processing.
  • Fixed static route handling when DHCP-learned and manually configured routes share the same next hop.

:gear: Deployment Notes

Before upgrading, please keep these recommendations in mind:

  • Starting with software version 6.1, cnMatrix uses two separate software images based on hardware platforms. Ensure the correct image is selected for your switch model.
  • Upgrading to 6.2.1 or later requires cnMaestro version 5.2.0-r10 or newer.
  • For USB upgrades from releases earlier than 6.0, Cambium recommends shortening the firmware filename before copying it to the USB drive.

:warning: Known Issues

Release 6.2.1-r3 includes a few known limitations:

  • EX3024F: Flow control is currently not functional.
  • EX3024F: 2.5 Gbps port speed is not supported. Use 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps SFP/SFP+ transceivers instead.

:chart_increasing: Why Upgrade?

With expanded high availability, improved optics interoperability, enhanced automation, and multiple critical stability fixes, cnMatrix 6.2.1-r3 provides a more reliable and scalable foundation for enterprise and service provider networks.

We encourage all customers using supported platforms to evaluate this release and plan their upgrades accordingly.
