Enterprise Wi-Fi Access Point Release 7.2 is Now Available!

We’re pleased to announce that Release 7.2 for Enterprise Wi-Fi Access Points is now available! This is a maintenance release of Release 7.1.2 that brings bug fixes, enhancements, and a significant set of regulatory updates expanding Wi-Fi availability across the globe.
Here’s a rundown of what’s included.
Supported Platforms
Release 7.2 supports the full Enterprise Wi-Fi portfolio:
- Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax): XV3-8, XV2-2, XV2-2T0, XV2-2T1, XV2-22H, XV2-21X, XV2-23T
- Wi-Fi 6E: XE3-4, XE3-4TN, XE5-8
- Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be): X7-35X, X7-53X, X7-55X, X7-56X
Important upgrade/downgrade notes:
- Upgrading XE3-4 Revision B and C APs from 6.x to 7.x must follow a staged upgrade: 6.x → 6.6.2.1 → 7.1 or later (applicable when upgrading via CLI or device UI).
- XV2-21X, XV2-23T, X7-35X, X7-53X, X7-55X, and X7-56X are not supported on XMS-Cloud — they can be managed only on cnMaestro.
- Wi-Fi 6 APs (XE/XV series) running Release 7.1 cannot be downgraded below 6.6.1.
- Wi-Fi 7 APs (X7 series) running Release 7.1.2 or later cannot be downgraded below 7.1.2.
- Release 7.1 and later will not be available for Wi-Fi 6 and 6E APs in XMS-Cloud.
Enhancements
- Updated DPI engine and application database (All platforms) — This release introduces an updated application database and Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) engine for enhanced application detection. (FLCN-18286)
- Password history enforcement (All platforms) — APs now prevent users from reusing any of their previous three passwords when resetting or updating passwords via the device CLI or GUI. (FLCN-18251)
- Automatic VLAN reporting to cnMaestro (All platforms) — APs automatically update uplink and personal VLAN information to cnMaestro for more accurate network management. (FLCN-17920)
- Improved network topology in cnMaestro (X7 series) — X7-35X, X7-53X, X7-55X, and X7-56X APs now send local network information learned through LLDP, improving topology formation. (FLCN-14948)
Fixed Issues
- Security: Multiple dnsmasq vulnerabilities fixed — CVE-2026-2291, CVE-2026-4890, CVE-2026-4891, CVE-2026-4892, CVE-2026-4893, and CVE-2026-5172. (FLCN-19410, All platforms)
- 6 GHz BSSID remained accessible even when the SSID was disabled by the scheduled access and monitor host feature. (FLCN-19407 — XE3-4, XE5-8, X7-53X, X7-55X)
- AP incorrectly retained and resent a stale RADIUS Class attribute (attribute 25) from a previous Access-Reject session during new authentication requests. (FLCN-19406, All platforms)
- Ping loss observed on wireless clients connected to XV2-2 APs during roaming. (FLCN-19280)
- Large number of DPI events in cnMaestro after disabling multicast snooping via CLI. (FLCN-19225 — XV2-22H)
- 6 GHz radio randomly turned off when the monitor host feature was enabled. (FLCN-19209 — XE3-4)
- Enhanced client connectivity in Wi-Fi congested environments. (FLCN-19045 — XV2-21X, XV2-23T)
- Fixed SNMP username/password configuration containing the “_” (underscore) character. (FLCN-18058, All platforms)
Regulatory Updates
Release 7.2 significantly expands regulatory support worldwide:
- Korean Republic — DFS channel support added. (X7-35X)
- Indonesia — 6 GHz indoor operation (5925–6425 MHz): EIRP 23 indoor / 14 outdoor. (XE3-4, XE5-8, X7-35X, X7-55X, X7-56X)
- FCC and ETSI DFS channels now supported on X7-56X.
- Morocco — Now supported across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz (5955–6425 MHz, EIRP 23 indoor / 14 outdoor). (XE3-4, XE5-8, X7 series)
- Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Iraq, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Ukraine — New channel and EIRP support, including 6 GHz (full 5925–7125 MHz band for Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Kazakhstan; 5925–6425 MHz LPI for Iraq, Qatar, Ukraine).
- Australia — Expanded 6 GHz indoor operation: 5955–6585 MHz, EIRP 24 indoor / 14 outdoor. (XE3-4TN, XE3-4, XE5-8, X7 series)
- Canada — U-NII-6 radio band support added for XE3-4TN.
- UAE — XE3-4 6 GHz indoor operation (5955–6425 MHz, EIRP 23).
- Peru — 6 GHz (5925–7125 MHz) support for XE3-4TN, XE3-4, XE5-8.
Known Issues (Highlights)
- FLCN-19619 (All): APs block internet connectivity for all clients when the Unknown category filter (intended to block adult content) is enabled. No workaround.
- FLCN-19516 (XE3-4): Custom applications configured with an IP address fail with the new detection algorithm. Workaround: use hostname, domain, or DNS-based applications.
- FLCN-18951 (All): The new DPI engine fails to detect the Wi-Fi calling application. Workaround: use the domain-name custom application feature.
- FLCN-18732 (XV2-2, XV2-21X, XV2-22H): Radios do not turn on after restart when a custom HTTPS port conflicts with internally reserved ports. Workaround: avoid reserved ports (53, 67-68, 80, 444-445, 514, 546-547, 853, 880, 1812, 1900, 3799, 4757, 5352-5353, 8888-8890, 12092, 18301, 51820-51821).
- FLCN-18640 (X7-55X, X7-56X): USB port is disabled in software; USB LTE dongles are not recognized.
- FLCN-18507 (All): cnMaestro fails to notify when clients don’t receive IP addresses if the DHCP pool exceeds 512 addresses. Workaround: keep DHCP pools ≤ 512 addresses.

Limitations (Highlights)
- FLCN-19610 (All): Application-based ACP rules associated with an AP Group or WLAN may not function correctly after upgrading to 7.2 — review your Access Control Policies post-upgrade.
- FLCN-19593 (All): The DPI engine cannot detect applications using IPv6 addresses.
- FLCN-17441 (All): Channel 144 is not supported in the US.
- FLCN-17077 (XV2-21X, XV3-8): 160 MHz channel width is not supported.
- FLCN-14366 (All): Downgrading below 6.5.3 resets the admin password to factory default due to password encryption enhancements.
