Can the ePMP 2000 AP be mounted on an ePMP 1000 sector antenna?
So we had an ePMP 1000 GPS Sync failed and are considering replacing with the ePMP 2000 AP Lite and just need the tower climber to move the bad/existing ePMP 1000 AP and replace it with the ePMP 2000 AP. Is this possible and as simple as replacing it with an ePMP 1000 AP unit. Swap out, no fork lifting the entire sector, i.e. the secto antenna, GPS antenna and radio. Note, we won't be using the Smart Beamforming Antenna.
Also, if this is possible without a fork lift of everything, which Canopy Surge is recommended for the ePMP 2000 AP?
It will work in terms of antenna and radio communications, but the ePMP1000 sector antenna will NOT support mounting the ePMP2000 radio to the antenna. (the newer sector antennas DO support that, and also have the mounting point for the steering antenna)
So if you can work out a mounting location within reach of the antenna leads (and you may want to shield the top of the radio from the weather - shouldn't be strictly necessary) then it should work out. (but those antenna leads are REALLY short) It would be ugly and un-professional-looking, but you could probably zip-tie the radio to the mounting plate on the sector antenna - remove the two lower screws holding the mounting plate to the antenna and loose the upper ones, run a ziptie behind it, then replace/retighten the screws (NOT too tight, don't want to crimp/cut the ziptie).
OK. So basically the ePMP 1000 Sector antenna's are not physically compatible with the ePMP 2000 APs, from a mounting perspective. Not mechanically compatible?
Based on your comments, then the options appears to be:-
1) continue with the ePMP 1000 AP series on that antenna or,
2) if wanting to use the ePMP 2000, one must replace both the old ePMP 1000 sector antenna and the ePMP 1000 AP radio at the same time.

3) be really clever and 3D print a 2000-to-1000 mounting adaptor plate. FYI, I am NOT that clever and I do NOT have a 3D printer... but it seemed that someone clever-er than I might make such an adaptor plate? Anyone? Anyone? :)
