Hi everyone, I have several Cambiam EPMP3000L as BTS at different points at altitude in the mountains. In one point in particular when they strike lightning the 3000l burn like photos. I have already accumulated six with the same problem. The same component always burns. Could someone kindly tell me the precise code of the component, maybe I’ll try to change it? I think it’s a voltage regulator at the input of the poe. Thanks !
It is a step down converter with a label AOZ1284 sop8 case. DC/DC converter that gives a 5 VDC output from the POE input with accompanying components. When I have that problem, I solder a chip (which mostly makes a short circuit) to its output, I connect external 5VDC from some source and start the device. I will check if there is additional damage to the CPU, ethernet, ram or rom memory. It mostly ends with that AOZ1284, rarely a LAN chip. I threw one away because the CPU was damaged, mostly repaired the others.
I bought them here, they’re great and not expensive if you have no idea where.

Hi @zica49,
do you run some repair service business or do you fix your own radios only?
I repair it for the needs of our company and on a friendly basis for several more ISP providers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, one from Croatia and one from Serbia. The imperative is not money, it’s my friends with the same problems as mine. Not enough repair units to make it my main job. Ten pieces per month on average. I can also restore the function of subscribers who have one flash bank that is damaged (this makes me especially relaxed).

Thanks a lot my friend ! I ordered the components from the ebay link you provided and luckily for me when I give it 5v the ap turns on correctly. Thanks again, you were very kind !

We’ve also managed to repair quite few of these. Fixing the power supply or ethernet is relatively easy. But sometimes damage goes even further. When wireless radios get hit, there’s too much trouble to be honest. Repaired few units, been replacing SKY85405 amplifiers, etc. But they’re not really the same again. So as others indicated basically just power supply part is worth fixing usually. Higher level repairs will get you close to the unit price eventually.
Proper device grounding and surge suppressors on ethernet feed really help. And they’re critical on longer ethernet cable runs.
The 3000L uses an amplifier with part number 85408-11
