Features

  • Scalability Enhancements (ePMP 4xxx Series)
Significant performance improvements have been implemented, increasing throughput for deployments with a large number of connected SMs on the ePMP 4600/4500 series.

  • Split Sector 4x4 Mode (ePMP 4500C)
Split Sector 4x4 mode now supports two 4x4 antennas, with beamforming independently applied to each antenna and provides a +3 dB beamforming gain on the downlink.
For Split Sector mode, connect the antennas as follows:
    First antenna: Chains 0/1/4/5
    Second antenna: Chains 2/3/6/7

  • MTU 9600 Support in TDD Mode (ePMP 45xx/46xx Series)
The latest firmware now supports an increased Ethernet MTU values of up to 9600 bytes in TDD mode.

  • Automatic Channel Selection (ACS) (ePMP 45xx/46xx Series)
To access the ACS feature, navigate to Tools > Automatic Channel Selection page. When enabled, ACS scans the entire frequency band based on the Country setting and automatically selects the channel with the lowest interference, optimizing performance in the current RF environment.

  • The ability to add a secondary Proxy Server for AFC has been implemented.

Problems corrected

Tracking ID Products Description
AXG- 10391 All Resolved the issue where settings for AFC Proxy servers configured via the GUI were not applied until a reboot.
AXG- 10218 All Improved TCP performance for deployments with multiple Subscriber Modules (SMs).
AXG- 10189 All Fixed the issue preventing SMs from reconnecting to an AP after disconnection due to AP KEEP ALIVE RX STUCK.
AXG- 10178 All Addressed stability issues causing occasional reboots in ePMP 45xx/46xx APs.
AXG-9980 All Fixed the issue where Total Frame Time Used consistently displayed 0% in TDD mode.
AXG-9977 All Fixed the issue preventing AFC SMs from selecting the optimal mode between Standard and Fixed Client modes.
AXG-9918 All Fixed the issue where SMs displayed incorrect AFC system status for non-AFC frequencies.
AXG-9890 All Fixed the issue causing SMs to disconnect with Reason: 41 (STA DISASSOC REASON PPPOE LCP LOST).
AXG-9877 All Resolved the problem that prevented setting a device name with up to 64 characters.
AXG-9821 All Fixed the issue displaying incorrect Tx Power for 6GHz AFC devices in cnMaestro.
AXG-9630 All Fixed the issue where an invalid error message appeared for AFC connection status on SMs in NAT mode after reconfiguration.
AXG-9510 All Resolved the issue of AP KEEP ALIVE RX STUCK occurring in ePTP mode with MTU 9600 configured.
AXG-8849 All Fixed the issue of lower-than-expected DL RSSI observed on ePMP 4600 and ePMP 4500 APs.
AXG-5932 All Fixed the problem preventing SMs from authenticating on a Radius Server when Auth- Type was set to Accept.
AXG-5658 All Resolved the issue where ePMP radios connected through the SFP port were unreachable in NAT/Router mode.
AXG- 10186 All Addressed the issue where an AP in WLR mode dropped all SMs, preventing them from reconnecting.
AXG-10568 All Fixed an issue where ePMP AX SMs in NAT mode failed to reconnect to the AP after changes were applied on the AP.

Please note that MTU settings configured to non-default values in ePTP and WLR modes on 5.7.0/5.7.1/5.7.2/5.8 firmware will reset to the default value after upgrading to firmware 5.9.0, necessitating reconfiguration.

I don’t see any issues or improvements listed for 11n or 11ac devices (except those connecting to an 11ax device). Any reason to update older builds?

Google Translate:

Updated 2 links (one for 17 km, the second for almost 26 km), eRTP equipment Force 400C + Rocketdish 5g-34, and immediately problems with modulation began, then the maximum DS11, then drops to SS5-6, then rises to the maximum again and fall again I had to roll back to firmware 5.4.2 (the most successful firmware for this equipment) and immediately the modulations stabilized on the first link DS11 (speed 900+ on 80) on the other DS9 (speed 600+ on 80 channel width). Anyone else having problems with the Force 400C on this firmware?

The 5.X branch is targeted at AX gear and AC SMs connecting to AX APs. If you have a mixed AC/N install base there is no benefit moving past 4.8.x at this point.

yes have had significant throughput loss on 5.8 and some prior. Need to roll back 5.4.2 as well

Is anyone having modulations go out of whack when upgraded to 5.9? I tried 2 links but had to roll them back and once rolled back stayed stable at DS11

I have seen lower modulation rates on average on two upgraded ptp links but 5.9 fixed at least part of a management vlan access problem, so maybe it’s worth the trade off.

I have already submitted a support request, it is fixed in beta 5.9.1
